Hey mama! Happy FRI-YAY!
Full disclosure: I was supposed to send this out yesterday but by 3pm I was just... tired. I KNEW if I waited until today, my message would be more heartfelt. So, instead of pushing through I turned off my computer and turned on The Hills replay. I propped up my feet and did nothing. Not sorry. It was amazing, and also, Justin Bobby is still a jerk.
Remember a few years ago, the #HustleHarder movement showed up? Gary V starts cussing and screaming at us. Grant Cardone tells us that we only need 15 minutes a day with our kids. Think I'm kidding? Read 10x.
I played into it for a bit, before realizing my panic attacks, grey hair, and frazzled children were a direct result. And, P.S. I was not making more money because my desperation and 'weird-o-ness' had people running from me.
7 years into this 'entrepreneur/creative' thing and I'm standing up saying STAHHHHP the madness.
I'm officially anti-hustle-harder and pro-work-less + make-more.
Did you know that the day before I recorded today's episode I "worked" 3.5 hours? During that 3.5 hours, I did interviews and recorded a podcast. It was all 100% FREE CONTENT.
Hmmm, okay Stef so you're saying you worked 'for free'?
Yep. When you SERVE, abundance flows right back to you. Full circle. It took me half a decade to get that. To start serving before selling... it's a major mind-shift, right?
Butttt how do you make money? #wegotbillsyo
I'm so glad you asked, Nancy!
During that 3.5 hours, I made $409.50 in passive income. I sold a course. If I averaged that per day, for a month, I'd make over 12K. If I averaged that every month, for a year, I'd make roughly $145K.
How's that for 3-4 hours of work?
In today's episode, I'm walking you through WHY I am anti-hustle harder, and against popular opinion, I believe that if you work less (with more intention) you will actually have more "success". I will give you six tangible steps to creating a plan for the long-term that will shift the way you look at passive income, forever. Enjoy!
Love and light,
P.S. If you enjoy this episode, be sure to share a screenshot in your IG stories! I will shout you out on my stories! Yeahhh!!!!!

What's up gorgeous. I'm so excited to be talking to you today on episode number 83 of the mom per mastermind show today, we're going to dig into why I believe that you need to work less. And then in turn, you will actually make more money. Why I am saying no to the grind and hustle harder movement. That is so prevalent today. And I just believe that it's a marketing play. That's going to leave. You burnt out overwhelmed, frustrated, and actually no closer to that income goal that you are chasing.
What's up. Mama boss. Welcome back to The Mompreneur Mastermind Show. I'm Stefanie Gass, success strategist and passive income queen creator. If you're ready to step into your God led potential, create profit from your passions and capture the success that is already yours. This podcast was made for you as always. You can find out more and connect with me email@example.com. So grab that cup of coffee or fill up that glass of wine. And let's dig in to today's show.
Before we dig in, I want to read you the review of the week. This review says first impressions, count five stars over on iTunes by Brit Gordon. Brett says, I first found Stephanie through an interview. She did with Sarah ordo and I loved her. I'm not even one full episode in, and I'm already brainstorming on how I can hire her to help me organize my business and make it what is destined to be God put you on my path for a reason. Thank you, Brit. I am so grateful that you found my show. I'm so excited to work with you and listen, girl, if you, yeah, you haven't left a review for me yet. Please head on over to iTunes. Please leave a star rating for me at the least, or a written review. If you'd want to send me the deepest thank you that you possibly can.
It's so important to our show. It's how we expand. It's how we get great guests on the air for you. And it's how we grow and further our mission and reach more women. Okay. So if you've listened to at least two episodes of mine, today's the day, pause this right here. Right now. Go do it. I love you. Kay, bye. Okay. So can we just for a while, talk about this whole push harder movement, wake up at 4:00 AM and grind this whole Gary V and grant Cardone like mentality. Now let me start by saying, I love me in the limited doses. Some grant Cardone and Gary V K they're cool. They're funny. But I take them with a grain of salt because I don't believe that their methods are for 99% of mompreneurs specifically. I'm just going to stand up and say stop this madness.
Like for the love. It's so funny. Cause you'll head to Starbucks to work or wherever your nearest coffee shop is. And you'll see like some young millennials and they're like grinded it out on the phone and like hustling on their laptop. Like go bro, like get it, do it, work it hustle. And they're like networking with everybody and Starbucks and like where in the, the flag guy outfit. And I'm just like, okay, this is hilarious. Oh, I don't know how you feel about this, but look okay. I've been there. There was actually a time when I totally bought into that mentality. Like the harder you grind, the easier and more successful your business will be go for no like a trillion bajillion nos. And you'll get your yes and listen, the, while it worked, it resulted in massive burnout. It resulted in anxiety attacks. I was legit working more than I was in my six-figure global corporate job.
Like that's insanity, 60 pounds overweight. Everything was falling behind because I was working harder on my business. Like the only thing I was focused on was the business because this whole grind and go for it and work and work and work and work mentality teaches you that if you do that, then you will have success. And then when you have success, you will ultimately have more time, freedom to do what you want. Crate Z town. If you ask me, look no shade. If you want to become a workaholic, because that's what this is. And you believe that true, massive breakthrough in your business that is tied to success, money and achievement and rank. And all of those things will equal happiness in your life or worth or validation. Listen, you don't probably have a family or you don't want to take time for yourself. And that's cool.
Like, get it, get it me personally. I want to work less while making more money, creating more time in my life. I want to automate my processes so that things happen behind the scenes. I want to work less. Okay. I want to outsource, I want to give, give tasks and things that don't serve me away. Like why should I do the things that aren't serving me? Just so that I can say I worked 12 hours today, like working eight to 12 hour days is not a badge of honor. In my opinion, that's like insanity. Like why there's no need to do that. And ultimately, while it may make you a few more bucks, the health implications that it's going to cause for you, the marital or relationship issues is going to be much more detrimental than those few dollars they're going to make up for.
I want to play in the pool with my babies. Wow. Making residual income while hearing the bank account. Ding, I am actually pro designed my life and anti work my life away. How do you feel? Are you with me on this? Good. Keep listening. And if you're not that's cool. Go grab you some Gary V podcasts because I hear it's pretty baller. Okay. So let's dig into this yesterday. Let's talk about an actual day in my life, how this works for me. And I'm going to give you six tangible steps so that you can, I can model my work methods. You can model what I have built and have a similar life to me because it doesn't have to be so dang hard. You know, you don't have to listen to the work harder movement. Let's go rogue. Let's say no to 4:00 AM mornings and 12:00 PM nights and working around the clock at the expense of every single thing.
So yesterday, what did I do actually do hour by hour. And what income did I bring in? Okay. Let's look at this. So yesterday and it may be different based on when, when you're listening to this because I batch these episodes. But as I sit here recording yesterday was a Monday love Monday, wake up early, get you some iced coffee, spend some time with God, be intentional about your day, write down your gratitude. You write down how you want to feel. You write down your intention for the day. And then you get to just get into that routine. Like I was just telling my husband yesterday, I'm like, I love a good routine. He's like, how was your day? I'm like, Oh, it was amazing. And he's like, why? And I'm like, because I love a routine. Like I'm such a three on the Enneagram.
Sorry, not sorry. Like give me all the routine, baby. I just love it. Anyhow. Back to the day. So did the morning routine then went to the gym, dropped off my son at his summer camp. My older son took the little one into the gym daycare at summer campus at the, a gym. Okay. So everything's at the same place, very convenient and dropped him off. I went and sat in the little internet bar in my gym and I worked for one hour. And what did I do in that one hour? I published my podcast episode for the week for Monday. Okay. And this is posting it up on my podcast. Host writing the verbiage that I want to put in the Instagram post, the content that talks about what's inside of this podcast episode, sharing it across my email list. My Instagram stories posting on Instagram, putting into my Facebook group, et cetera, one hour.
Okay. Then packed up all my stuff, headed to Zumba, still at the gym. K. All of this is happening at one place. Proficiency people, efficiency, proficiency. When to zoom pub shake, my booty released some tension, had fun twerk to like you better believe I got some rhythm then went and got my little human from the daycare. We went to my mom's house because it's right next to the gym. Again, efficiency, proficiency. And we hang out here until my other son is done with his summer camp, had lunch with him, lunch together. We sat down, outside, ate our lunch. It was great quality time with my little guy. Then I put my little guy down for his nap. Now, granted, I am blessed with great sleepers. So sorry if that's not you, but you still have windows of time where you can efficiently work. Your business don't make excuses.
So I put them to bed and I had two and a half hours of work. This was not get on Instagram, post new stories. Cause I can do that at any time in the day. I can't focus in on really intentional work unless my kids are not with me. So two and a half hours while he was napping. Now what did I do in that two and a half hours? I did two podcasts interviews on someone else's show. Then my little guy woke up. We swam for an hour at my mom's house. No interruptions, just me and him swimming. We talked about the birds. We counted the little ants that were on the side of the pool. Like floated, we practice blowing bubbles. Like you guys. It was just so much fun because it was just purely quality time with him. Then we went, picked up.
My older son from camp, went home, made dinner for my family, sat down, had dinner together. Kiddos had baths. We got ready for the next day. And then husband and I begged out, laid on the couch and watch two hours of colony on Netflix, which by the way, that show is super good. So add it to your list. I didn't grind. I didn't hustle. I didn't like chase people down with my business and my products and like, get it, like join my movement. Like, ah, like I'm crazy. I'm so frazzled and overwhelmed and I'm proud of it. And I work 24 hours a day. What? No opposite opposite. I didn't do cold calls. I didn't spam social media. I didn't wake up at 3:00 AM so I could work before the sun comes up. Listen, I didn't be insane and push off my family. I didn't push off my Zoomba class cause I needed to take an extra call.
I didn't, you know, do any of those things. Now I worked for three and a half hours total the morning and the two and a half hours in the afternoon in that three and a half hours. I did one thing. What was the one thing that I did ladies? I served, I served my market for free. I poured out value by doing a podcast episode that directly impacts the women that I am on a mission to empower. Then I served two other women's markets for free. So in essence I did three and a half hours of public relations. If you want to call it that I didn't, you know, do any of those hustle, harder mentality stuff that were being preached on that we have to do in order to have massive success. So here you are, you're listening to the story you're going low.
All that sounds gravy stuff. Like I would like to work out for an hour in the morning and work for three hours and go swimming. But how do you make money if you're working for free stuff? Like how does that actually work for you? Like how's that working out for you working for free? I hear you. Well, SIS, I am so glad you asked because I have an answer for you and I have six tangible strategies for you to do the same thing. So how much money did I make yesterday? I made $409 and 50 cents yesterday. And by the way, that's at 95% profit margin because the only thing that costs me was the hosting where those courses are. And I sold an online course. So if I divided that $409 and 50 cents by three and a half hours, that is $117 per hour for that three and a half hours of public relations of serving of pouring into my market.
Quote unquote for free sounds pretty gravy, right? Well, let's say that I made $409 and 50 cents every single day. If I made that daily, it would be 12,000, $285 a month. That's pretty sweet. Right? And if I made that every month, it would be $147 and $420 per year, $147,000 a year. That is amazing. If you ask me, there's a very small percentage of the world that make over six figures and I bet that percentage goes down significantly. If you were to look at how many hours I worked, like what percentage of people make that amount of money? When they're working three, four hours a day. Now I don't make that every single day, but that's the example I'm going to use for you right now. Because most days I sell at least one passive income product. Now I have passive income products at many different price points.
I have coaching at many different price points. The point is is that if you can make $147,000 per year by working smarter, instead of hustling harder, wouldn't you? I bet most of the mini band or check in Cardone groupies that are working 60 plus hours a week drive and sales and showing up and hustling and networking and posting on social and going Cray, Cray. I bet they're probably not making 147,000 per year. I know. I sure wasn't when I was hustling like that, but here's what I was doing. I was driving myself into the wall. I was overworked. I was so extraordinarily tired because I was also a mama. I was so frustrated at the lack of results compared to the immense amount of effort that I was putting out. I was stuck as well. Like nothing was growing because all of this effort was tied to me directly, me showing up at events, me doing parties, me talking to people.
One-On-One me pounding the pavement. Okay. So how do we anti grind and actually make more profit stuff. Let's go there. I'm going to give you six steps now. So get a piece of paper out or your phone, use your note pad on your phone. I want you to screenshot this for me too, because it's really important that we get this message out there across Instagram stories across the world that we don't have to do this to ourselves. And I think we should start an anti grind hustle, harder movement. Okay. Take that Gary. So number one, you first have to identify your God led calling because if you are going to make an impact on the world and really feel fueled and excited about it and stop making excuses as to why your mission isn't growing with you. It's because you're probably doing the wrong thing.
And I'm really sorry if that pushes you or makes you feel uncomfortable when I say that, but you have to be in line with what you were created for my friend. Like you have gifts on purpose. So if you're selling something today and it is not lighting you up, you are not so deeply obsessed with what you're marketing. I want you to go listen to episode 68. And I just want you to do some soul searching and see if there's a better aligned mission for you right now. And it doesn't mean you have to quit what you're doing today. In fact, I don't think that you should, but I do think that you should start exploring what God gave you as his vision for your life. What those really incredible zones of genius are that you've been gifted. What are the things that make you so excited about your day and about your life?
You have that on purpose. It's because you're meant to share that. Okay. So that's number one. You're never going to be successful at this whole work less, make more unless you're in line. So if you are not there, pause this episode, come back to me later, my friend, I'll be here, go to episode 68 and start there. Okay. Number two, if you're like, I think I know my God lead call. I know the category that I want to grow. I know the brand or the focus or the business that I'm in is really the right fit for me. Perfect. Then here's what I want you to do. Number two, it's the long game, the focus, the mental strategy, the goals that you set, they all have to be tied to the long game, long game, long football field. Like long-term okay. Like I've said a bajillion times.
There is no such thing as overnight success. And that is the lie that this wake up and hustle and work from 4:00 AM. And all this stuff is telling you is that if you basically give up your life for a short amount of time, they'll have overnight success, then everything will be beautiful and amazing. You'll have all this free time and all your happiest and most amazing dreams will come true. Straight applies, period. It's the long game. It's building something sustainable in a really authentic way that is meant to build trust and serve over time. That's what's going to cultivate a brand for you. That's going to withstand any product, any company, any, you know, economic downfall, because when you have the trust and visibility and you've built something that you're consistently showing up for over time, people will take you seriously. Number three, create a platform.
I would not be able to work three and a half hours a day and make 500 bucks a day. Whatever my example was, if I didn't have a platform where I was serving for free, I have to pour into all of you. And I want to pour into all of you because it helps all of you discover your God led calling. It helps all of you monetize it. It helps all of you be more present, amazing mothers and spouses and have more reliable relationships. And it helps you love yourself at a higher capacity. And if that's what you walk away from this podcast with, I win, I win, but it is for free. If you were to say, Stephanie, do you make money specifically from this podcast? Like I'm paying you to listen to this show right now. The answer is no, but you do have to have a free platform before you start monetizing it and charging because the free stuff is what creates trust.
It's what builds relationships. Those of you that have purchased from me, you've taken a course. We've worked together privately. We've done coaching. You've been in my group, coaching, whatnot. How long did you follow me before you invested in me? How many episodes of this podcast or how many live videos, if you are long-term stuff, follower, YouTube videos, did you watch or listen to before you actually reached out to hire me? Probably quite a few. If we're going to be honest here. So I want you number three, to create a platform. If you don't have one, now you must do this. Okay? Where you serve, where you pour into your specific ideal avatar, your specific human being that is in line with that godless calling. And you do that for at least one year without any expectation. That's why I said, don't quit that job, SIS, because you're going to build a platform while you build a business.
And if you are like me and you think that this platform should be podcasting, and I will tell you like audio consumption is exploding. If you can repurpose content by showing up behind a mic in your gym, clothes in your companies, speak your heart, share, teach, and then repurpose that material across all the other platforms. Do that and take my course and learn how to launch scale and grow a massively successful podcast. It's called podcast pro university. And yes, I'm pitching you on my course right now, because my course is invaluable to the success of your platform. If you choose podcasting, podcasting is not for everyone. If you need to showcase, workout moves, don't start a podcast or channel. Okay? But those of you that are starting a podcast that your audience is the mompreneur or the female entrepreneur or the woman that's multitasking. You need my course, because my course takes you.
Not just how to start a podcast, go do that for free on Google, but how to create one that is standalone that has really increased credible retention. My show has grown month over month at a compound rate, I have not had one month where it went down or stayed the same. And my goal for you would be to publish this podcast, make it really successful. I teach you what to teach in the show, how long it should be, how to edit, how to record all of the, how to tech stuff, but more importantly, the psychology of how to scale it, how to make it get big, how to grow organically so that you can then have a big platform to work less and show up on your podcast yet sell more. That is what I mean, teach you my zone of genius is sales and marketing.
Okay? It's not how to start a podcast because that's easy enough free. It's how to make it successful. So I expect to go that deeply into that, but listen, if you want to have a hugely successful platform and you want it to be podcasting, trust me, like I believe so fiercely in my course, it's called podcast pro university. You can check it out on my website firstname.lastname@example.org. Okay. Enough of that. So number four, now over that year that you are pouring into your platform, create two in the background, you're going to create two passive income products and entry-level product that and an intermediate product. I recommend courses. That's my favorite because courses are 100% passive. They are also like 90% profit margin. They allow it to translate my message really clearly. And personally you can charge a much higher premium than you can for written products like an e-book or a handbook or something like that.
And I actually sell way more of my premier courses than I do of my $9 or handbook. Believe it or not. So in the background while you're building a platform and you're still working your day jobs, this like don't give up the income because then you're going to panic, create some passive income products that solve a problem for your market.
kay? If you need help. But this, this is like literally what I do, this is where my zone of genius is let's do a power hour coaching session and I will help you map out your course. And I believe you should have an entry-level course because it helps people kind of like tiptoe into working with you. And then you should have an intermediate level course where you can charge a premium and at a higher level, provide more of like implementation advice for your ideal client.
And hopefully they're going to stair-step they're going to take your entry-level course. Love it. Be obsessed with it, learn from it, have a tangible result. And then they're going to say, I need more. This human is like amazing. And this course was so great. I'm ready to pay four times more for her premiere stuff. Okay. So all you're going to do over this year is created, create the two things. As soon as the first entry-level one is done, you start monetizing your platform with the entry level product. Okay. Again, if you need help with that, that is legit. What I do all we have to do is a one hour power session coaching and I will help you get through that. That is my jam. Email me. All right. Number five, be intentional with your work time. You can't work less and make more. If the hour that you secured to work on this mini course, you're on Instagram.
You are making excuses of why you can't focus. You're doodling on a piece of paper. You're picking your teeth. You're on the phone with Lola and you're chatting it up. Guys. You have to be intentional. You have to time block. You have to set hard core boundaries. One of my best friends is in town right now from Florida, but she's going to be here for a month. And she was like, Hey, can we get together? I'm here this week. I'm so excited. I want to hang out. Look. It's my last week of my kiddo being in full-time summer camp. I can't hang out. I've got to bust out these podcast episodes. I've got to show up on multiple podcasts and serve those markets in the minimal two hours a day that I have next week when my son is not in full-time summer camp, I am all your sister.
And that was non-negotiable for me. So just set your boundaries, ladies, take your power. It's your power. Like it's your day. It's your hour. It's your business? Are you going to build it or not? Right? Like, are you going to really do the thing or are you going to think about doing the thing? So here episode 73, if you're like, I need help with boundary stuff. Like Lord help me, 73, go there. Please play. Everyone should listen to that episode because you need boundaries in your life. You meet them last number six, you're going to have to show up for free, over and over and over. You're going to have to get tough skin. You're going to have to stay true to who you are. Don't show up like someone else don't show up like your favorite podcaster. Don't show up like your best friend show up as you let there be so much you that it is so unique because no one else in the world is like you, no one else talks like you laughs like you jokes like you is awkward like you or whatever you are.
What is your unique qualities? I want that to shine, right? Like you guys, I show up on Instagram stories and my pair is a freaking mess. Like my wingding hair. And I started joking about it. Like the wingding hair look, you know, with all my little wing beacons sticking out everywhere. And like now other people post their Wingdings and I'm like, yay. Look how cute I started a wingding movement. Like just be you because there's other people just like you. Okay? So those are the six things that you need to do to in the longterm, create a sustainable brand. That's going to bring in for you passive income revenue, using a platform where you show up for free. And the only way you're going to do that is if you build important to that platform over a long period of time, if you follow these six steps, I am not saying you're going to make $147,000 a year right now.
I am saying eventually, because you're building a stainable you were building a business right in a solution-based business that you're going to show up for in the time block that are working for your life. Don't work your life around your business, work your business around your life. And if it took you five years to show up on whatever platform you choose, that could be blogging. It could be YouTube. It could be Facebook live. I prefer podcasting. It doesn't matter. What you do prefer is your choice show up there. Okay. Or, and over again. And what? So what if it took five years to grow that platform to a level where people are purchasing those passive income products for you at $500 a day. So what it took me six and a half years now, granted, I wasn't building this from the beginning. I've only been building this for two and a half years, but what if it took you that?
So what, so what, what's the, turn it up. Hustle, harder little banks work 12 hours a day. Go back to the corporate job, try something new. And when that doesn't work, try something else. New and hope that you get lucky, buy a lottery ticket. No sister it's dig in, get over the hard part, which is leaping now and taking the hard action and trying something. When you are unsure, if it's going to work when you are scared and overwhelmed, because you're not too sure if you're making the right move, I say, get, make it. Anyway. I say leap. I say, start that thing yesterday. If you have a dream in your heart to start a blog, I want you to do it right now. Go to go, daddy, buy the domain. Let's anti grind and let's start showing up intentionally that let's create a longterm plan, which is the six steps I just laid out for you. If you loved this episode and you're ready to build a roadmap, the greatest success story of your life, that is not going to be overnight, but that is going to be sustainable and withstand the test of time and leave you swimming with your kids.

I pray that you have clarity on what God wants you and is calling you to do.
