From roughly 350 story views per day to over 1,100... what the what?
How did I do it and why does this matter?!
I believe Instagram stories is the catalyst to IG growth. Over live, over IG TV, and definitely over your feed.
Just my personal opinion...
With over 500 MILLION people using stories it's the new place to be, boss.
Fact: Social media is a must if you are building an online brand.
Fact: IG is a seriously amazing touch point for building new relationships, cultivating meaningful relationships, and helping people.
Fact: I've gotten multiple $2,000+ clients from a simple DM or comment beginning an authentic relationship.
BUT how did I go from new contact to PAYING CLIENT?
I think, no I KNOW the shift happens when they start watching my stories.
They go from curated content on my posts to ohhhh.... Stef's like an actual real-life human. She has pimples and drinks too much iced coffee and her house is a mess, and she lives in oversized sweats and has good days and bad days...
SHE gets me. Oh honey, I don't just GET YOU, I am YOU.
THAT is the moment when I go from someone to follow, to someone to engage with. Someone to KEEP showing up for. Someone to DM, ask questions, and ultimately? WORK WITH.
Stories is the unveiling of your soul. It is WHO you are behind all the filters, the editing, the planning... stories is real life.
Ya hear me?
So here's how it started -> I did a case study and I decided to SHOW UP in stories. I mean really show up. To post at least 10x a day within 4 categories. Faith, Family, Business/Podcast, and Lifestyle. Why? Because those are the 4 categories that light me up and they are also the 4 categories my ideal human is obsessed with.
I changed up 11 things inside stories and guess what?????
I DOUBLED MY STORY VIEWS. This is sooo key because story views = new relationships. New relationships = new podcast listeners, which = trust. Trust = human connection. Human connection = clients, friends, and genuinely helping others on a MUCH deeper level.

And so this episode is super important because it's something I've recently done and actually seeing tangible results. All right, let's dig into how I doubled my Instagram story views in 30 days. Say what? Yup. Doubled these story views. That means more people checking out my stories. More people engaging with my stories swiping up, clicking, following. You've got the drill. So how did I do it? Let's dig into that. I can't wait to share this with you. Let me break it down. And first thing I want you to check out is what is your number? Because you can't compare yourself to me. You can't compare yourself to anyone else in the industry, truly because everybody's story is different. Everybody's timeline is different. Somebody that has 100 followers has a much different number and story and standard to kind of grow from than somebody that might be starting with 10,000 followers today. So I want you to head on into your Instagram stories, click on the, your little bubble and check out the bottom left hand corner with the eyeball.
That's going to show you how many people are checking out your stories and you can't go by what you see right? This second, you kind of have to take an average. And so what you might do is for the past week, go in every morning, check out how many people are checking out your stories, jot that number down and get a rough estimate. You might also check out the older stories that you are categorizing in your highlights and see what is the highest number of views that these stories are getting, jot those numbers down. Because truly the only way that you can grow forward is to grow from your own number. You got to compare apples to apples. So this is what I did. And I decided to create a case study and see if I couldn't drive this number through the roof. And my goal was to just increase the number by like a hundred people.
I'm like, let's see if I can really impact the quote unquote algorithm of Instagram stories. Once I found out my number, which was roughly between 350 and 450 people, and I have no idea, listen, I have no idea if that's good, bad pie, low, like, and it doesn't matter because my number is my number, right? Like just like your number is your number. So I wrote that number down. That was kind of my average of roughly 30 days ago in the last week through today, I'm hitting anywhere between 800 to a thousand plus I had a day last week where I had 1,175 viewers. So how the heck did I double the Instagram, the traffic coming up through my stories? How did I do it? So here's what I did, guys. I wrote that number down decided to really plug in my game and see if I could drive it up because let's first tackle.
Why like, why do we care what this number says? Why does, does this metric even matter? And let's dig into that first and then I'll give you the 11 steps to implement. At least what I implemented that really made a massive difference for me. So first and foremost, Instagram stories is where it's at. I'm telling you stories are first to pop up on the feed, right? You get into Instagram. And what do you see? Instagram stories, those little circles, right at the top right there. And the ones that you were checking out most frequently, they show up first. Instagram's like, yo, she loves her some Matilda and some Mandy and some Lulu and like whoever you love. And so those people continuously show up repetitively. Every single time you go into the gram, have you noticed that Instagram is super smart? So you want people to start checking you out on Instagram stories because you're going to continue to show up for them and you're going to be front of mind and your feed is going to be the one that they're constantly going to cause they're like, Oh yeah, I liked her stuff yesterday.
Let me check out what she's got going on today. You know what I'm saying? So I think it's super hot. And secondly, it gets you the visibility and it gets way more engagement than posts. Like have you ever noticed you go into your stories and somebody asks a question or they ask you to answer a poll, a yes or no poll, or they ask you to do something in stories. How much more likely are you to do it? Then when they ask you to do something in the feed, what's crazy is probably over 50% higher. I know for me, I am getting over 50% higher engagement and more click through rates. Then the stuff that's directly right there on my, on my feet. So I know that if I'm getting much more visibility, traction, I'm driving more action behavior from my audience in stories, I've got to do more of it.
I want to continue to drive. What's working. You feel me? Like we want to notice a trend and jump on the trend before the masses do. If one out of five people are utilizing stories, you have the, you know, you have the leverage right now to be a first mover you do. But if only, let's say one out of 20 people are utilizing stories to the highest capacity and they're really showing up and they're doing these 11 things. I'm about to teach you. You are then going to really, really shine above the crowd. Your Instagram stories is going to be premiere. Meaning your story is going to show up for all of the people that start checking it out. Every time they check it out, like every time they log in super great right now, next thing is to talk about what I was doing before inside my stories that wasn't working.
So let's do this. Let's dissect what was happening before the case study and then what I changed up and what's going on now. So before I show up sometimes, Ooh, this might be Instagram story worthy. I would say, gosh, maybe two or three stories a day. I was definitely not using Instagram stories on the weekend or when I was busy or if I felt blah, it was just kind of when I felt like it, I was also just uploading the pictures as they are. It wasn't really using a certain filter. Everything was just pretty boring. I was putting the stories up there as well. Kind of like as an information blast, like playing at the park picture, but I wasn't adding anything to engage my audience. There was no call to action. I wasn't asking questions. I wasn't using polls. I wasn't using the music feature.
It wasn't a marketing tool. It was just, Hey, what's up? This is what we're doing. Okay. Now that is boring. And why are people cool on Instagram stories? Why are they on social media at all? Because they're bored or they're addicted, you know, but it's like, they're constantly on their like entertain me. So if my stories are boring and they're inconsistent, I can definitely see why somebody's not going to continuously show up and check me out. Okay. Now I started my case study 30, roughly 30 days ago. And here are the 11 things that I changed. And I want you to get a notebook and pen or get out the notes in your phone and jot these things down because each and every one of you can do these things. These are not life altering, technologically challenging, expensive. All of this stuff is free.
It's easy. I think you can implement it right here and now today and drive up your story views, which in turn drives everything else. When you drive your Instagram story views, that is driving engagement, visibility clickability of followers, which when you have more followers, you have more people to touch. And when you have more people to touch, you have more of a story to share with more people and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. So you feel me on this? Here's the first thing I changed. Number one, consistency. I preach consistency. I feel like in everything I do, I mean, there is just zero chance of growth, of huge success story without consistency, really, truly 1 million trillion. You've got to be consistent in whatever it is that you want to grow. You choose three things. What do you want to grow today? You want to grow your business.
Do you want to sell more of your ebook? Do you want to grow your Instagram story views? What are the three things you want to grow right now over the next 30 days? And then create a consistency timeline, like plug it into your planner right now, show up, show up, show up, do it, market it, show up. You know what I'm saying? So consistency is super key. And I decided for Instagram stories, I was going to show up every single day for 30 days. Number two, frequency. This one was really important before I was showing up gosh, two to three, four, five times a day, max and posting up just a quick snippet. Right? Well, what I did over the 30 day period was I upped my frequency that I showed up. The number of story shares to a minimum of 10 Sundays up to 20 stories a day is your mind blown?
Like stuff. I can't do that. That's way too many sties girlfriend listen up. If you can do a quick video clip, like record 30 seconds or 45 seconds or 60 seconds and upload that, you know how for stories, right? Cause it uploads in 15 second increments. Think about how you can split one boring thing, like a screen share of your latest blog posts like boom into, Oh my gosh. Dun dun dun dun dun, have you ever tried to make meatloaf in less than 30 minutes? And then you go next story click. Yes or no. If you want to get my amazing meatloaf recipe of how I made it in my instant pot in five minutes. And then the next Instagram story has a gorgeous video of like this meatloaf when you're unveiling it from your instant pot and everybody's mouth is drooling and they're so excited.
And then your next Instagram story, it's plated beautifully. And it's got your little meatloaf over here and your little side over here and your mashed potatoes and your buns and your roles and your salad. And then the next Instagram story says, do you want to get my recipe right now? And your next Instagram story says, click the link in bio to head over to the blog and get it right now. Boom. And maybe even the next Instagram story has a snippet of the video tutorial of how you made the meatloaf. Like, do you feel me? It doesn't have to be like, here's the Instagram stories, click this link or click the link in my bio to get my meatloaf recipe. That's boring. Like nobody cares. But if you're leading into it using like excitement and teasing the audience and getting them to click yes. And yum and Oh heck yes.
And you're showing them and then you're appealing to their senses with the video. And with descriptive words, you're going to have enough Instagram stories to fill 10 to 20 a day and talk about marketing some meatloaf, like how many of you were like, Oh, I'm making make some meatloaf for dinner. I'm like, yum. Like that sounded amazing. Right? So frequency needs to go up. And I just gave you a killer example of how you can do that. How you can spread out the one story you were going to post and we've just made it into six, seven, eight, maybe even 10 Instagram stories. Number three, the layout of my stories changed. I mean, big time the layout changed. So before it was whatever, right? Like, Oh, here's a screenshot of this and Oh, here's my kids and me at the park. And then here's a picture of my, you know, juice or something.
And it was just kind of random. There was really no specific layout. So what I changed up is I created an aesthetic that I stick to because if my Instagram feed has the same visual aspect, I use branding and everything I do. I've got my branding colors and my fonts and my styles and just every single thing that goes along with success with Stephanie. So I want my Instagram stories to have consistency and that branded feel as well. So I shifted it up and I started using only two filters for everything, the black and white and the colorful one, because let's get real, that colorful one, like makes the girl look good. I'm like Howard busted. I might be that day. I just swipe and have that color filter. I don't remember what it's called, but it's like, I'm like, woo. Ah, like I'm ready to go.
Like that color filter just makes me look a nice on, I don't know how you feel, but that might be one of the filters you want to use as well. And then anything else I do, I use my gold font or my gold background that highlights the font so that people that are in my stories, they have a sense of recognition. They're like, Oh, this is definitely a Steph story. Cause she's using that gold font, the classic font almost every time I've got the same two filters that they've come to expect. So I just wanted to create a layout that felt consistent. Number four, I made my stories more professional. I don't know professionals the word. Umut I definitely added this really cool aspect that I think creates a professional. Like they look like they've been edited. Okay. It looks like, Oh wow. Like, you know, Steph uploaded this into some app and it got edited and it's got really super cool font and like this neat background.
And so what I did there guys is I used an app, a free app called unfold, U N F O L D. Shout out to Alison Scholz for telling me about this. Thank you, Alison. You're awesome. I started to use this app not every time, but if I'm going to unfold, like think of it. Like if you have something to unfold, like if you have a new blog post, if I have a new podcast episode, I'm going to use unfold because I know I'm going to use a sequence of stories to tell a story like the meatloaf example, I might go into unfold and create some really cool, different visual appeal stories that will lead into the video of the meatloaf or the plating photo of the meatloaf, et cetera. Number five, adding variety into Instagram stories. I think before I did this trial, before I did this case study, I was just posting like randomness.
So it was pretty much what is the majority of my life. It's my kids and me working from home, looking like a coffee junkie with mom hair, no make bond and still the pimple on my chin. I swear guys, it's been like two months. I'm like judge and Judy are still with us. They are still with us today. Say hello? Any who? So I decided to create the main categories of my life that I want to be reflected in my stories because I don't want to grow. I don't only want people to watch my stories for my kids. I don't only want people to watch my stories for my business because I want them to relate with me on the things that are most important to me. So I decided to create categories that I would share stories about every single day. And here they are, faith family podcast slash business and lifestyle.
So I've made an intentional choice every day to try to seek out moments where I either have a quote that spoke to me. Oh, boom, like that's a faith. I'm going to share this quote. Or I have a family moment that I want to share. Like my kid just being hilarious and cute. Cause I know it's going to resonate with my mompreneur. I then maybe have, obviously I'm going to talk about my podcast. I want to drive people to listen to the latest episodes. I want them to review the show. I want them to know what I offer. I want them to hear a testimony. And then the last one is lifestyle and this is the fun stuff, right? Like binge watching, you know, boss girl or having a million drinks sitting on my desk right now. Like I don't know whatever the stuff is that helps other people see that you're a real human being and resonate with you because they're also probably binge watching boss girl right now.
And they're also probably drinking iced coffee at 3:00 PM. Okay. Am I talking about you? I want to resonate on all of those levels. So adding variety, I think was a big component of having people continue to show up. Number six, creating a viewer experience in stories. This would be the example I just took you through of the meatloaf. So let me think of another example for you. Let's say that you have a retail shop, online retail shop and you sell, flavored exclusive coffees and they're branded to you and they've all these amazing flavors. And you've got a new flavor launching. Oh my gosh. So you can totally just share a story. Like have you tried coconut cream and that's boring. Right. And it's blah. And nobody cares. Or you could create a user experience right there in your Instagram stories. Right? Maybe a week before a launch, you start sharing, Oh my gosh, we've got a new flavor coming up.
Can you guys guess what flavor? It's going to be an add a question box. And then maybe you've got a teaser video of the new flavor beans and you're stirring them. You do a boomerang, right? Or you do a boomerang of you throwing coffee beans in the air. Like I'm so excited about the new flavor. And then maybe you have another one that's like hints. You know, Trump think tropical Island. I want you to think about all the things that make your mouth water when you're on vacation and you start giving them hints and have them like do that little swipe, the little love, like how much do you love this right now? And have them engage with you in Instagram story. Then maybe you say, Hey, do you want to be featured as one of the exclusive recipients of our very new flavor. I want you to send me a message and tell me why you're so excited to order our new flavor.
And we'll send you a free bag right there. And you can get people to start interacting with your brand and getting excited about the new brand. And then on the day of launch, maybe you have 10 stories that lead up to what it is, right? Like you're making the coffee, you're pouring it in the cup. You're having a taste test. Having some people guess what the flavor is. Then maybe you have a swipe up link or a click the link in bio to get 20% off early bird pricing, very first shipment of the coconut coffee. That's that like, are you with me? Do you understand? Like you have to shift from being and I'm I was this case. So I'm not being mean when I say boring, but I'm just telling you like it is like stories. Can't be boring. You are here to keep people excited, interested.
You want to draw them in. You want to get them to have to click the next story because it's so exciting. Add music, add questions, add polls, take them through the entire experience from excitement, driving interest, getting their feedback, drawing them in to the reveal. And this can be for anything. It can be for a new blog, post, a new video. It can be for talking about your favorite thing that you do. Like it doesn't have to be business related. It can be anything. You could have something like a storyline of how you love working from home, right? Like do a whole day in your Instagram stories of how you're able to work from home. Like take them through a day in the life and have your branding look the same. You're using the same filters. You've got the beautiful music in the background of your stories.
Like you guys get what I'm saying. I think you get this one. Number seven is call to action. See, to TA your favorite acronym and for every five or so stories have your audience do something. And this doesn't have to be, you know, click the link and bio, but it could be anything like having them do a poll or a question or one of my favorite things to do is say, Hey, ask me a question. Like, what do you guys want to know? And I let my audience drive the topic for that day. So have them do something. All right. Number eight, aunts. Oh, I just said this one. Okay. Double whammy. Number eight was answer your viewers questions on IgE stories. So once a week I try to say, Hey, yo, what questions do you guys have? Like ask me anything. And it's so fun because as you grow, okay, you'll get more.
And more of these. This might be a tactic to start getting into. Once you have like a thousand plus followers, or if you have a really engaged audience and just let them ask you anything like anything, because people want to be heard, right? People want to feel important. People are nosy. So I would ask them, what do you want to know? Put in the question box and Instagram stories. You can then share the answer to the question or share their question in your story and like do a video. You could just type out the answers, but this allows people to feel important and your audience to really feel connected to you. I mean, it's like you're hopping on the phone with them, you know? So that's a big one. Number nine is share your viewers shares and tag them. So when somebody shares something of mine, I always share it in my story.
And they're like, Oh my God, you shared my share. And I'm like, girl, I'm sharing all day, like share the love. And it gets them again, like to just resonate with me and feel super excited and important. Cause they're like, Ooh, Stephanie shared my stuff. And so if somebody shares something of yours, like if you put up a really cool quote and then somebody else shares it, share their share back in your stories and tag them. It's all about showing the love. Like I think the more you can lift up your audience and your viewers, the more important that they feel and just think about like how great it feels when somebody takes enough time to leave you a review or to share your stuff or to send you a little message. Like all of those things feel really good when we shift from it's all about me for like two seconds and make it about somebody else.
That's always going to come back to you in a major way. And that brings me to tip number 10, which is making my audience feel important. And those are all of the tactics I've shared above. Right? Tagging them, asking them questions, answering their questions. I do shout outs on my stories a lot. Like if somebody did something super cool or somebody left a great review for me, like I put it up in my stories and I tagged that person and it just makes them feel important. And they're going to keep showing up, like, you're going to be their favorite Instagram person ever. If you start sharing about people, it makes you memorable. You know what I mean? Last one, number 11, I decided to show up as me. And I've kind of always showed up as me, but not super intentionally as I have in the last 30 days.
So I just showed up as me, like extra weird talking about my pimples. I did a post at the day about my hairy Caterpillar eyebrows. I'm like, this is it. You know? Like stories is the true. You like, you can't get more unfiltered than Instagram stories because it's you talking to the camera? Like there's no filtered content creation. There's no editing. There's nothing but a filter on a really bad day. Right? Like putting those sunglass filters on y'all know, I like to use those quite a bit, but I had to show up as me. I decided to just really have zero filter, be as authentic as I could show people what it was really like to be Stephanie gas, to run the mompreneur mastermind show while raising kids while going to the gym while going through surgery while never really putting clothes on during the day and living in PJ's drinking too much coffee, failing at some things successful at some things, because it just, I think, opened the door to seeing who I truly am.
And then the beauty of that is when people can see who you actually are when there is zero fancy schmancy going on zero editing, the real tribe that was meant for you will arise to have a thousand people checking out my stories. When 30 days ago there was three 50 slash four 50. That speaks to the fact that if I show up for people, as I truly am, they show up for me, that's the best way to grow in my opinion. So there you have it.
