Welcome back back to The Mompreneur Mastermind Show. Here we go. This is episode number two, five secrets to growing a targeted following. Now, when I say following this means growing a group of people that are going to be your tribe, the people that are going to love what you're all about, follow your brand and ultimately purchase your products, goods, or services, or work with you.
That's what it means to have a following. Now, let me just remind you last week, you heard all about my story. You heard about my transition and this road to discovering my truth. You heard me talk about the fact that every time I had this massive transformation, it basically brought me to my knees and I had to start over. So I want to say, regardless of where you are in your journey, regardless of if you're just starting a brand new business, you're just starting branching out, creating a brand new brand for yourself. Whether you've been in business a really long time, and you're just adding new income streams or whether you are a professional expert with a massive following. I think that these tips can help you in a massive way, because it's not about attracting any and everyone to come. And it's not about the numbers.
Okay? That's what I'm trying to say here. It's not about how many people like my page and how many people are in my group. In my opinion, it's about how many targeted people have I attracted through my awesome content through my value that I'm actually helping that now love me so much. They're part of this incredible tribe of people that I've built, that can't get enough of me. And that means my free content. That means my products. That means my courses. That means they're coming back and they're buying from you over and over again. How does that sound? So I put together my five tips for you. So let's go ahead and dig right in tip number one, branding, honey. When I first heard that word, I was like, what the heck is branding? I don't know what that even means. All I did was spam.
Bam. Thank you. Ma'am all over social media, about my skincare, about my network marketing opportunity. Woo. Join me, join me. We rock like get this stuff. It's us on. You need it. You need it. Look at all these results. I mean, it was like punching people in the face with my products, with my opportunity. And Holy smokes is that super played out and it only got me so far. Pretty soon people were defriending me. I'm not kidding. I was getting defriended by. My friends. Has that happened to any of you? Please raise your hand because now I feel awkward now I feel weird, but here's where branding comes in. It's not about the product, whatever it is that you sell, you sell. I'm sure it's amazing. Whatever it is that you teach, whatever it is that you do. Okay? Whether you're a wellness coach, a success coach, whether you market a fitness and whether you market lipstick, whether you have a female empowerment movement, whatever you do, it's not about the product itself.
It's about the mission behind the product. It's about the value behind the brand. It's about how are you helping your target market and that's your brand. Okay? So I want you to start focusing on how is what I'm doing, helping people truly helping people. So let's take lipstick, for example, it's not, Oh, I have the best makeup ever. That's not your brand. Your brand is I inspire women to feel incredible about themselves. Yes. Through beauty. Okay? Maybe it's something like that. So think bigger than the superficial physical product that you market and dig into. Why does your target market need, want, love, desire, have to freaking have this because it makes them a better person. It makes them feel better. You're teaching them. You're pouring into them. That's your brand. So you now need to set up that brand for success. How does that grow your following?
You ask, let me share that with you. When I stopped marketing a specific product and a specific company, and I started branding me and my mission, it opened the doors for me to look more professional because you need to get your aesthetic, your logo, all of those things in order, it clarified my target market for me, who am I actually selling to? I was able to niche in on that person. And that person started knocking on my door. Then I was able to create the platforms to funnel people in, through a professional looking brand. Not only that when you brand you, instead of one specific thing, you now have the doors open to different ways of monetizing your brand. It's not just about the lipstick, but it's now also about what maybe you've got a makeup class that you market online. Maybe you have a blog that you've monetized.
Maybe you do affiliate marketing for your favorite makeup book. You now have opened the door to different vehicles of monetizing your brand. So number one is brand you that will help you grow a following. Number two, content, content, content, content, content, content, content. Okay. So why am I saying that 1 million times, lady boss. I am telling you this because when you pour into your niche and I'm saying this word niche a lot, because I don't want you marketing to everyone. I ma I want you to market to a specific terrific person who is your perfect ideal client, who is your ideal perfect customer. That's who I want you to talk to when you're doing content, what does content mean? It means adding value, do free videos, do live videos. Start a mini blog, start posting on a regular basis. Be you put your personality into it.
Do funny memes, ask questions. You've got to pour into cultivate the relationships with your tribe because when someone loves you, what do they do? Wha they talk about you, right? How many of you love a podcast? Or you love a coach, or you love a book so much that you just go out and you tell everyone, this is my favorite. It was amazing. Oh my gosh. It truly helped me. It changed my life. That's what you want people doing about you. So it's not about, I need to make a sale. It's about how can I teach somebody something today? Now let me teach you something totally invaluable that I hope you never forget. If you walk away from this podcast and this is all you remember, I have succeeded when you give free value, whether it be a video alive, a podcast, a blog you're posting you're you're, you're sending out an email every week.
Just diagnose the problem. Don't give it all away. Don't I'll give everything you have in your arsenal away because then why would this person buy your product services or hire you? I want you to think about that. This analogy, Susan has a cold. This is going to go to web MD and say, is this a cold? And web MD is going to diagnose her. I think you have a cold if blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Here are some simple remedies. That's your free value. Okay? That's it. It's very light. It's very, very simple. It's easy to digest. You're not necessarily giving them the answer because from web MD, she's going to say, okay, but which solution will cure my cold? Which medicine is best for me? How do I take the medicine? That's going to be where your services and products come in. Those are your courses, your eBooks, your products, your coaching, your workshops, your subscription groups.
Okay? That is the point where you start to charge for the implementation piece. So as you ladies are coming up with your content and you can download free content calendar that I have for you. If you head over to Stephanie gas.com/resources, download that, come up with an awesome content calendar, because this grows your following in an organic way. That is free. You've got to be doing it. You absolutely do. Number three. Focus on your zone of genius. Focus on what you are gifted at. When it comes to creating communication. Everybody in their mom was talking about live video. You got to do live. You got to do video. You must do it. Listen, listen, Linda, like you guys let's bring that back. Cause that was so fun. I just loved it. It was my favorite video ever of all time. Listen, Linda, not everybody's good at video.
Are you over there nodding? Like that would be me. She's talking to me like, ah, my video is sorry. Super-Duper horribly awkward. I'm stuttering. I can't get my thoughts out. I'm staring at myself. My eye is twitching. My kid is pooping in the background. Like y'all, I've been there. Believe not. Everybody's cut out for a video. I'm just going to be brutally honest. I actually say that probably only 10% of the people I work with are cut out for video marketing. If you are not passionate about learning video, it doesn't light you up. You don't feel amazing when you end. It takes you all dang day to record a five minute video. Let's rethink that strategy. Okay? Focus on your zone of genius. Maybe you're really great at writing. Just do that. Create a couple paragraph blog posts posted in your group, posted in your email list.
Okay. So focus on how do you communicate best? Because however you communicate best is how your audience is going to receive you. If you're a stuttering and hating your life, as you do a video, believe me, they can feel that. And it's going to just be super weird and they're probably not going to watch it again because it made them feel weird. Now if you're really great at writing, that's gonna really shine through in what you do. You put out there and that's going to help you grow a following. So number three is basically focused on your genius. Don't force. What the masses tell you is the right way to market and the right way to communicate. I want you to do you. And I want you to do you in an amazing way. And I really want you to focus on what lights you up.
So pouring into you have your brand. That's number one, number two, you have a content schedule. What are you going to teach people? How are you going to diagnose your market? Focus on their pain points, right? Start to really pour into them. I would recommend a weekly basis for this stuff. Number three, communicate the information in a way that flows and feels right to you. Number four, this is probably the most important of all. When it comes to growing an organic following is consistency. How many of you have started this idea? Oh, I'm going to do a weekly blog. And you do like two. Well, that didn't work. Nobody liked it. Nobody read it. I'm over it. There's no money in it. I'm just basically doing this for free. I don't have time for this. I know I've been there. Believe me. When I first started my group, ladies, the mompreneur mastermind on Facebook.
I had this goal of going live every Tuesday. I called it topic Tuesday. They got to pick a topic and I was going to go live. Well, guess what? Sugar plum. That shirt didn't happen. I had just had a new baby. My other son was like four years old. Every time I would go live, he would run in going, I have to poop. Literally like if you guys go back and watch the wives, it was like a trigger like, Oh my mom's going to get on a video. I'm going to poop. Oh, Oh my gosh. Like the pain of it, the pain. It was so painful to keep a straight face. Okay ladies. Well, my son's going to go take a pooper right now, but I'm going to be right back. Oh my goodness. Super duper fun. The greatest thing about that was that my market was mamas.
So they totally got me anyways, back to number four, which is consistency. I wasn't consistent. I was still able to do it. And I was still able to grow a following, being kind of here and there and spotty. But when I started to focus on consistency posting every other day in my group and I found that it wasn't realistic for me to do a video every Tuesday at that time. So I started to do posts every other day and I would do a video maybe once or twice a month. That was a, that was the right blend for me to grow an organic group to over 1500 people without adding one person on my own. It was a hundred percent through word of mouth. So consistency is key. Now, figure out what do I have time for when it comes to content? Even if it's a simple post, a meme and engagement question, ask a question, ask a poll.
Maybe only once a month, you're able to do a blog or a video. It is better than nothing. I would rather see you consistently post once a month than not at all. This is going to truly help grow an organic following. Okay. So then, and here's one more thing to think about ladies. It takes 10,000 hours, 10,000 hours. So they say to become an expert in your field. So I tell my girls listen, 10,000 hours. Just think of it as practice. You're practicing, go live, mess up. Who cares? You don't have. I have to look perfect. You don't have to look amazing. I would do it in my gym clothes from my car. You guys have seen my live videos. It's not about being perfect. It's about getting your ideas out there. Start to put your passions out into the world. Talk about why it lights you up, share your story, be authentic, be raw.
And that is what's going to get people to trust you. Come back to learn more from you. And also it's going to start cultivating you as an expert in a specific space sidebar. If you don't know what you're doing, which is you need to start there. You've got a niche in, don't talk to everyone, but everybody likes CBD oil. No. Who do you want to work with? Who do you want to attract? You've got to get the right voice, the right market start pouring into a certain demographic of people. You're going to have so much more success and grow a much faster following when you're focused on a certain type of person, certain age, all of those things. So just focus on consistent practice. It doesn't need to be perfect. Just start doing and fail forward. That is my favorite phrase ever, ever, ever is fail forward because God has got your back.
Boom, you've got this. And there's nothing that can happen. That would be bad other than crickets really? I mean, what's the worst that can happen. Y'all nobody watches. Great. Whatever. I practiced, please. We don't care about that. Okay? We are bigger than what people think about us. We are stepping into our potential and we are going to leap into the unknown. So the last one, number five, this is a way you can grow your following. That's not necessarily organic. So if you're ready to grow faster, what you can do is number five, consider paid traffic. Now this means you can use Google ads. You can use average paid advertising. My favorite is Facebook advertising to use Facebook ads. You can do this ladies for as little as three or $5 a day. It's a great way to grow your following when you don't have one, if you're starting your business and you've got zero people in that group and you got zero people liking your stuff, nobody's on your page.
Think about outside of your warm market. Can you invest in growing a following? Facebook ads are a wonderful way to do that. You can set up an audience on Facebook based on demographic. What do they do? Are they a mom? Are they not a mom? Are they a working professional? What groups do they like? What types of people do they follow? Do they love makeup? Do they love fitness? Are they looking for a challenge group? You can set this up in the audience, demographics at the Facebook ad. Then you can optimize your ad using graphics, using video, whatever it is that you, that lights you up add content, give them free value for something. What? Come join my group, grab my freebie, whatever it is. This is a great way to start funneling people to your, what groups and email list. If you're struggling with Facebook ads and you're just staring at you like log into Facebook like I did two years ago and just stare at Facebook ads.
Like what's a campaign, help me, help me somebody to help me and no help for Facebook ads. Cause you know, who would ever help with that? You know? So you're just staring. Got it. You're creepy, creepy, creeped out. And you're overwhelmed. Come on over to Stefaniegass.com/courses. I have a Facebook workshop. You can snag that it's like an hour, hour and a half. And I take you through Facebook ad Facebook ad set up optimizing your ad, how to set up your budget. The difference between testing, what's gonna work. What's not gonna work. And ladies I've been able to get some of my ads to convert at, I don't know. And I'm not promising you any results because it's all really different based on your audience, based on the products you have and all of those things, but less than a dollar a lead and that's not a dollar per click.
It's the people, all that from all the people that are clicking, who's actually opting in for my free stuff, signing up for my website and then ultimately buying my products. It's crazy. So paid traffic is an exceptional way for you to go out there and to start growing a following faster. Now I will tell you, ladies, I have been able to grow 100% organically in my group from, from tips. One through four have been able to market all of my passive income products by using re target advertising on Facebook ads to that market and upsell them, my books, my courses, and my coaching. So it all really works hand in hand, but the biggest thing you want to focus on right now, if you're new, if you've just started a business, you've just set up that Facebook group or you're just not even sure where to begin is get your brand in line.
Start to create content, pour into people, diagnose the problem. Don't give it all away and be consistent. That is my number. Number one, number four, four top tips for you. When it comes to growing a following, here's a bonus tip one more, one marks. I'm on a roll. Just don't say no to giving it all away. This is the hardest thing for my clients. They're like, I, okay. I created this opt-in or I did this free video, or I'm starting to do this weekly blog, but they're spending like an entire day with all this information and mama boss. You don't need to do that because that's where you're going to monetize your audience. They need you to show them how they need you to help them optimize. So don't give it all away. Simply give the high level, give some tips, start there, give a sneak peek, do something that's light.
It's it doesn't give the full implementation you're teaching, but you're not showing. Does that make sense? I hope that you're nodding. I really do. If it, if you need more clarification on this, I want you guys to post in the mompreneur mastermind group on Facebook and let me know, because I'm happy to do another segment on this topic. If that, if that's confusing you as far as how much is too much, what do I give in freebie versus lead magnet versus ebook versus course, I would love to talk to you guys about that. So let me know,
Anyway, that is it for
Episode number two, I hope that you can head out there, focus on building a targeted organic following, consider Facebook advertising. If that something that you're ready to invest in, remember it's a tax write off. So that is always a good thing for your business. And I just wanted to thank you all so much for the love and support from episode one, sharing your story is never easy. It's always really uncomfortable, but that's why we do it because we want to help other women realize they can step into their truth. They can share the hard moments in their life and know that it's a moment to step upon and grow and learn and figure out your calling. All of the transitions and redirects in your life from God are truly there for a reason and a purpose. So thank you for your support from episode one, sharing my story is always uncomfortable, but I'm going to continue to do it because I know that it helps.
So many of you share your story as well, which is why ultimately we are entrepreneurs is to help people and to pour into them. So there you go. As always, I just want to pray so much abundance over every single one of you right now. I pray that you have unlimited unlimited time in your day to accomplish all the things you need to accomplish. When it comes to your family, balance your business and your spirituality. I prayed that you have inspiration and clarity. And that those people start to tell more people who start to tell more people. And before you know it, you have an explosive following that you can pour into. I believe in you and I am cheering for you. I'll see you guys next week. Love and light, Stef.
