Can you believe it?!
6 months as an official podcaster. Crazy-town. I woke up one morning and this dream had been planted in my heart while I slept. God had placed his hand on me and answered my recurring prayer... what's next? Show me. I sat up and said out loud, "I'm starting a podcast." I didn't know why, how, what... I knew nothing but the call came from Him. I knew somehow, someway the provision would appear. The answers would come. The bricks would be laid if I took the steps... So, within 2 weeks of that dream I launched The Mompreneur Mastermind Show Podcast. My passion project was born. I made a promise to myself to show up, twice a week for one year. To pour my soul into lifting women. To guiding them with not only business training but also balance, faith, mentorship, and inspiration. To push them to step outside their fears and touch their own potential. 6 months ago I got my first download. Hey mom. Thanks. Today, 6 months later the show has been downloaded over 13,000 times. There are 48 episodes with hours and hours and HOURS of free, value packed training that I believe is changing women's lives. This episode goes deep for me on what I've learned during this project. How God has used this podcast to teach me, push me, and mold me into the best version of myself. Join me on today's show as I lay out the 10 lessons I've learned since starting my podcast 6 months ago. I believe these lessons can be applied to any business. You're going to love it... Hey, beautiful. Welcome to episode number 48. And this is 10 lessons I've learned since starting this podcast. And I cannot believe that we're almost at the six month mark of The Mompreneur Mastermind Show. It has fueled me in a way that I never anticipated. It has shown me parts of myself that I never thought I had. It's encouraged me to grow and share and be more vulnerable than I've ever been in my entire 30, almost 34 years in a couple of days. And it's just been such a wonderful journey. I've been able to reach more women than I probably ever dreamed. I would reach in six months and gosh, it's just opened so many doors. It's been a true blessing. And I know that this podcast was divine intervention. I can't wait to dig in to today's show. What's up. Mama boss. Welcome back to The Mompreneur Mastermind Show. And I'll probably read yours, live on the air. And PS, if you subscribe, you'll have access to the shows before the masses. Sometimes even 24 hours before I promote it to the public. Oh yeah. Okay. Let's dig into these crazy lessons. So today we're talking 10 lessons I've learned since starting this very show roughly six months ago, almost six months ago. And this is just super crazy. So let me share with you guys first, how this podcast came about. I was doing coaching, as you all know, I work and maybe that's the wrong word. I'm a mentor. I'm an educator. I help women figure out their God led calling their potential. I started out because I came from network marketing. I started working exclusively with network marketers. I created my first couple of courses that were all about online marketing, the Facebook and branding bootcamp, the Instagram success formula, the attraction marketing handbook will over time. I started to see this desire in people's hearts to do more with their lives, to expand that they had bigger dreams than just one product. That one product wasn't the right fit for everyone and that they felt stifled or they felt unfulfilled. And so I really opened my heart and I asked God to show me what was next. I said, Lord, what am I here for? How can I help these women realize their own potential? What is this? What is my specific steps that you want me to take? And what happened over the next year is just absolutely crazy. Sometimes you just have to do things without understanding the why, the, what, the, how the means to get it done. But when I opened my heart and I started to await his word and the direction that God wanted me to take, instead of my own head telling me what I wanted to do, it's hard because you'll hear these voices in your head or is that just me? Anyway, you'll hear these thoughts, call them thoughts. And it's hard to decipher. Is this me and my ego or the fear and the panic, like after network marketing, wasn't really working out and we're having all these cashflow problems. And I had to borrow money from my kid's savings account. And it was just a dark time. I started to panic and I'm like, okay, you know, maybe I can be a nanny or go back and get a job. Or, and I started looking at teaching English online for 20 bucks an hour. And I started looking at Oh, I did. I created a merch store on Amazon, started creating t-shirts you guys, I'm not making this up. Like, I'm all shades of crazy. All right, let's just get back just to get that straight right now and made, you know, $2 on every t-shirt sold. I did have a t-shirt go viral. Although I will tell you that if you haven't heard of Amazon merch and you don't know what I'm talking, talking about, save yourself the trouble. It's not profitable for most people. Okay. So anyways, the point of this is that I started listening to all the things in my own head, instead of listening to what God was putting in my head. And it wasn't necessarily the audible voice of God, but I know that he was using people and situations and materials and opportunities to try to show me what I'd been asking for. And for the first time in my life, I wasn't asking God to show me something because I wanted to make more money. I wasn't saying, Hey, God, show me the way. And then I don't need you anymore. Which I think I selfishly had done so many times in the past, or God helped me reach this or do this, or get this amount of money. But really for the first time in my life, I hit my knees through the stark season and said, God, I need you to show me your will and your desire for my life. I need you every step of the way. I want to be your vessel, whatever the call is, I will listen to you. It doesn't matter. I don't judge you. If you tell me, you know, you're going to be like a ski instructor. When I hate me some skiing and I am terrible, the ski lift, I would have listened. It was the first time in my life. I was humbled. I was to the point of no return when it came to my spirituality and I went to sleep one night and I woke up in the morning and in sleep, the hand of God had come down and planted this idea. You will start a podcast. And let me be honest. I wasn't a huge podcast consumer at the time, six months ago, I listened to one or two here and there. Now I'm listening to like, Oh gosh, I listened to hours of podcasts a day because I've realized, Holy smokes, we have this free content. That's so good. And I become a podcast, obsessed human. I'm just like, give me all the shows. But at the time I really wasn't. I'm like a podcast I woke up and it wasn't in an audible voice. Okay. But it was like a clear vision. Like I just woke up with, it was almost as if it was a dream or something, but I woke up and I could almost just not even do anything else until I wrote the words down in my intentionality journal, I will start podcast. I looked at those words and I knew there was zero doubt zero. I didn't stop for two seconds and think how, why, what, where, Oh, heck no. Like there's one place. I am fearless 95% of the time. And that is my business everywhere else, you know? Okay. We got some wiggle room, but when it comes to business, I'm a leap. I heard this, I saw this, I felt this. I got on that Google search bar, how to start a podcast, started researching it, figuring it all out. And the right websites were popping up the right people, the right podcast. And I mean, everything I needed, every door, every door is open. The technology figured itself out the money appeared. Everything was laid on a silver platter for me because instead of my own voice, it was God's voice. It wasn't me anymore. Making the choices. Let me think about what will make the most money or let me think about how I can diversify and do this and do that. And I could teach English classes at 3:00 AM and make a couple hundred more dollars a month guys. Like I was literally going through that when the network marketing stuff was no longer working out and we were having, we had this lifestyle of $17,000 months and when it wasn't sustainable and it wasn't fueling me and it was knocked in half I panicked. But the beauty of that was through that hard moment. And those months where where's the money coming from, what's next? I don't have any foreseeable income. That's going to be increasing. I am stressed. I'm overweight. I'm overwhelmed. It was the point of am I going to listen to myself and go do the things that are not my call and make a couple hundred bucks just to say, I'm doing something about the situation, or am I going to shut my mouth and open my heart? Because really it comes down to trust, right? So for the very first time, and that's when I was led to becoming this coach, becoming this educator, pouring into women, helping people with no end goal. I had no idea how coaching was going to provide money when I started. I didn't know. So anyways, long story short. Let me get to the point here. I started this pocket from the moment I woke up with that vision within gosh, probably seven days. I had a podcast up. I had picked a name, taking the photo, gotten the graphics, created one. So lit up with excitement, passion. I drafted over 200 podcast topics within like two hours. Do you think that I was writing or do you think that God was writing? You think that I woke up with this vision and I woke up and wrote down 200 ideas of how I could help people important to them and use the gifts and the knowledge and the seasons and the vulnerabilities and the hard moments that I've faced and the successes that I've had and use the amazing guests that are literally led to me. If it was my idea. No. Okay. No, so crazy. Right. It's how it was born. And the one mission that I had when I started this thing, one and only mission was to pour into women and men, apparently like we got some good dads up in here, listening to this show. What up dad? I see you, but to pour into humans, to teach, inspire and educate and to lift them into their own potential. Like I just truly wanted to grab you on the other end of this stereo phone, computer, wherever you're listening, like grab you and lift you up into your own potential, like show you that fear is nothing but your own thoughts. The new back, I wanted to speak into your soul. I wanted you to believe in yourself more than you ever have before, simply because I'm showing you the way to do that. And I wanted to teach you all of the lessons that I've already learned, and really I encourage you to step out in faith. That's really what my goal was and is with this podcast, that's it. And I said to myself, if one person listened, it will be worth it. And I said to myself, I'm going to do this for a year. And I'm going to show up as if I have 1 million followers until I'm going to do this. I'm going to show up every single week. I'm going to make the time I'm going to make the commitment. I'm going to write the notes. I'm going to figure it all out because I believe if one person's life can be impacted through this show than it was worth it. And also, I don't believe that you wake up with a purpose in your soul on accident. Your passions are put there on purpose so that you can go out and conquer your purpose. And they come from a higher power period. End of story, period. Like the dreams that you have are not your dreams. They come from somewhere so much bigger than us, and we are the vessel to making an impact. So here are the 10 lessons I have learned in six months of being a podcast host. That's so crazy. Number one, get clear, hold up. Y'all you can apply these 10 things to anything in your life. I want you to listen to me now, like really listen to me because if you're doing anything today that has growth potential. These 10 things can apply to you. If you're starting a new business, starting a new relationship, trying to go next level, going to launch a course for the first time, trying to figure out branding, ready to grow a following or make a bigger impact. I mean, it doesn't matter to me whether you're going to go and become a, you know, a New York times bestseller or be a public speaker and speak from the stage to tens of thousands of people. Everybody's purpose is different. But these 10 things I believe are pertinent to every human because these 10 lessons came from a God calling that I had on my life. I want to share them with you because you may be facing it. God led calling right now today that you're afraid of that. You're not ready to leap into. Let me tell you what these 10 lessons are waiting for you. So, number one is to get clear, ask for big miracles. God surprised me with what he said, what he led me to. There was never a day in my 30, almost four years where I said, I think I will be a podcast host one day. Nope. I may have wanted to be a backup rap dancer. And maybe I want it to be like, I dunno some else Epic, but at that's never something that was said or did that cross my mind. So sometimes when you ask for big miracles, what you get back is not something that you are expecting. So you don't do anything with it. Ooh, a podcast that's weird. Not, I don't think so. Thanks God. Maybe next time. Listen, if you have this crazy idea and it really feels like it was planted in your soul and you can get clear and listen and stop the incessant chatter in your own head and all the excuses and all of the fears and just be still wait for God's answer. And the people that he puts in your heart, people, he will use other people to give you the answers. I promise you. Number two is to leap. Just jump don't sit there and overthink. I could have sat there for a year and said, I think I know I'm going to start a podcast, but what's the perfect name. What's the perfect graphic. How do I do it? What will my episodes be? I should record a year's worth of before I launch it. Uyuck, no leap. The answers will only come when you start taking action. The very first thing I did was like Google it and figure out, okay, it's going to be for mompreneurs. I'm going to play off this thing. I'm going to create a title and I'm going to have all these topics. And I just leapt. I had no way of figuring out if it was going to work. I had no idea how to start one, but the answers appeared before my very eyes. The doors opened when I took the step, I took the step. I didn't start thinking about starting a podcast. I actually did it. So I implore you. Like if you have this thing sitting there waiting for you or that you've been considering doing, just do it. I don't care if it's the worst thing ever, and you did it all wrong, you still did it. And then the answers will start to appear. Number three is commit. You gotta commit to the vision, to the goal, to the thing I said out loud and in my vision planning and all of the things I wrote down about this show, I'm starting this podcast. I'm going to do it for one year, two times a week, every single week period y'all know I had my surgery. Recently. If I have something like that going on, I'm going to prerecord the episode. Like I batch worked like a month and a half worth of episodes. I'm going to figure it out. I'm going to commit because success does not come from a week, two weeks a month. Sometimes success comes in a decade. I have a huge vision for this show. I want to reach over 1 million women and dad preneurs with this show with this podcast. But it starts with one download. It starts with one year, one year's worth of episodes. It's got to start somewhere. So you've got to commit to the process. You have to commit to the long game and stop worrying about overnight success. What if when, because your story is not dictated by when it's not dictated by the house. Those are already figured out for you. God already knows when he already knows how he's going to give you the tools to be the success story that you're dreaming of. If you would just trust him long enough to make good on those promises. Number four, there are no mistakes, only growth opportunities. If you're not sure about something, cause believe I wasn't too sure. I'm like podcasting. Okay. Like, I mean, I th I truly didn't even question it. I didn't, because I knew, I knew that this idea was a gift. However, I still wasn't too sure. I'm like, is this meant to impact one life is this meant to impact millions of people? But here's what I knew. 1000% it was a growth opportunity. If I could show up and in my PJ's PS with iced coffee and speak my heart, I was like, how can I not grow? And I can't tell you the growth I've had. Like y'all I have shared stuff on this podcast that I never know. I knew I would share, like we've talked anxiety. We've talked about the breast implant removal. We've talked about fears. I've talked about online market being in sales and sales is terrifying for people. I mean, we've talked about every single thing and I've been able to show up as authentically Stephanie for the very first time in my life. No lies, no filter on me, just me as I am. And how is that? Not a growth opportunity. So there's something that you want to do and you want to do it in your own way and be your own success story. Just show up as you and know that it's a growth opportunity. What's the worst that could happen. The worst that could have happened is that one person listened to my podcast for all this time, which would have been my mother. Like let's get real high mom. She's listening. Y'all she's always listening, but here's the deal. It's still a growth opportunity because you're showing up, you're practicing, you're getting better. You're honing your craft. If it takes 10,000 hours to be a baller at what you do do, why not do it? Even if nobody's watching, listening, buying, et cetera, you're still gonna get become amazing. And all those people that have overnight success, guess what? They just showed up and did it and grew and failed forward and leaped and took the steps. They didn't sit there. And I think about it. So that one's big for me. Number five, when you, when you help from the heart and you serve first with no agenda, no financial means, you know, I had no, no clue how I was going to profit from this project, nor did it matter to me. I truly, you decided like this is going to be a passion project. If it never makes it a dollar, like I'm so cool with that because God, you know, God owns my finances. And when God is ready to give provision and pour favor onto us, which he has continued to do every single day of my life. I mean, I can't believe save all of the favor that God continuously provides and I never should have had to worry when I have, I had that dark season and I borrowed $2,000 for my son's savings. I was scared. That's the moment where I'm like, okay, I'm panicking now. But if I look back on that, look where I am now, I should have never even allowed a fear to crept in a doubt. There was never a doubt. God provides every time I should have just said, I got you, God, look, I'm listening. I'm ready. I'm going to be still. I'm going to hear you. I'm not going to go create a merge, storing them and like designed. T-Shirts. I mean, you guys like the things this that I've done, you just would like laugh so hard. I hope you are laughing at this, but there was no need to be scared. So my point with this one number five is that God will always provide the provision on his call over your life. He did it call you so that you could step up and fail and not have the finances to figure, but he will test you. You may get up there, right? The point of launch, right at the point of your first sales call, right at the point of this new branding project that you have, every doubt will creep in every fear. The enemy will tell you you're not good enough. You don't have enough things or you're struggling. You got to go borrow money from your kids. There is no way go get distracted, go get a job, go get a different job. Take another one, take a pay, cut, work for free. But here's the thing. It's a test. Stop giving in and giving up when you're at the point of breakthrough. If I would've given up right there and gone and got some type of job or become a nanny or done something that wasn't in my call for my life, it wasn't in my destiny. And I would have said no to my God led dress. Do you think that would be right here right now? I would be feeling so unfulfilled. So frustrated. I would be angry. I would be resentful. There are so many negative, horrible emotions and feelings that come with denying your self, your greatest destiny. So no that God will provide the provision every time. If you trust him and just step out. Number six, showing up consistently, always wins this podcast. Okay? Before this show, I would go live once in a while. Those of you that have followed me since like the stone ages, you know, I would show up once in a while in the group and teach something. I had a great intention when I started the group on Facebook to do topic Tuesday and I was going to show up every Tuesday. But video for me, wasn't something that I was committed to. So sometimes I'd show up. It'd be topic Thursday before I know it. Then it was like once a month, topic Tuesday. And what happened was I had great engagement at the beginning, but it, because I wasn't consistent, people had no clue when this girl is showing up, what is she doing? She's talking like I was super Willy nilly about it. And the thing was, I had a good following of people that liked me, knew me and trusted me, but I wasn't growing the following in a big way because my consistency wasn't there. Same thing goes for posting on social media for putting content into the world. Do you do a blog? How consistent are you? So when I started this pod, the cast I committed every Monday and every Thursday. And I think the only one I've ever missed is like Christmas was one holiday that I didn't post something. And here's what's happened. Like the podcast has grown. Like I don't even know the percentages. They don't have them in front of me, but it's like a hundred percent every month. Like it's totally crazy, like doubling and then tripling and compounding. And my income has done that too, because more people are seeing my courses and more people want to work with me. And this consistency that I've shown, I've continued to show up when there was $0 behind the podcast with zero, zero end goal. It was just to teach and to promote the things I believe in, in love. And if someone wanted to buy something that cool, and if they didn't cool, like I truly didn't. It didn't matter to me because this wasn't my dream. This dream was gifted to me. So if you show up consistently for your dream, you're always going to win. You're going to have more engagement, more trust, higher accountability with your followers. And here's the most beautiful thing ever is that by just showing up, as you truly are consistently, I don't care if you were the most awkward, strange human on the planet, there are other awkward, strange people that are going to gravitate to you. I don't care if you are super composed and you teach in a teacher voice and you think that nobody's going to like it because you're not funny. Guess what? Those same people are gonna find you and resonate with you. Your dream, isn't your dream. The followers that are going to come find you are going to be led to you. You have zero control. So if you had just do it, just do it. Everything will work out over time. So showing up consistently is huge. And I kind of said, this one already, number seven, but being yourself will always build your tribe. Your people are different than my people. Your people are different than your spouse's people. If you have a product or a service or a vision or a goal or a style that is all your own, you are going to win one budget million times more than if you show up with someone else's style. My word of the year is authentic because I feel like I can not. There is zero growth in lying, in faking stuff in taking someone else's style in. Oh, I wish I was like, her. Her podcast is really successful. Yeah, it is because she's herself, she's showing up with zero filter and just being her. And so that was my thing. I'm going to just be me. And if they come, they come and you know what? They came you're here, right? You are my people. So the point here is be unapologetically you in your truest form in whatever it is that you do. Number eight, being scared and unsure is fire. Those are the moments that, you know, you're in the right place. We cannot grow and incredible and be world changers by sticking in our comfort zone, by doing what we know well, you know, and I hear it. Here's another confession guys. When my network marketing business was kind of crumbling. Everybody was jumping to the next best company. That's just the way it is in the industry. It's very cyclical. And I had poured my soul into building it. Like I worked so hard and it was so devastating, but it's all that I knew. And my head was telling me that my only option was to join another company, another network marketing company, and start over. It'd be more exciting. More people will want to do it with me. I'll be able to convert. Oh, Hugo says, Hey cohost. Anyway, I'll be able to build faster. It's got a better comp plan. Like everything in my head was telling me that I had to go join another network marketing company, everything coming into my heart was telling me otherwise I was terrified to shift. I didn't even know what being a coach meant. Like what does that even mean? I had no idea how I was going to figure it out. I had no clue what the first step was. I didn't know how I was going to make any money. And money was the biggest constraint we were facing. It was how do I bring in dollars today? That was really what I was worried about. I was so scared and unsure, and I was super panicky. Like I was getting so distracted. I started a blog. I started the merch store. I was going to go and, you know, be the online tutor. Like I was going to go do all these things to make pennies on what my dreams were going to be worth two months, two years from that day. Right? Like I can't imagine a decade from now because I will no longer hide from my colleagues. I will no longer hide from the dreams that I have because these earthly pressures are getting to me. That's just the enemy. And we have the answer to the enemy already. Right? It's putting our trust and faith in God. And it's taking the steps to achieve your greatness, the steps, like the actual steps to just go and know that if I just go, the answers will be here. So being scared and unsure is your confirmation to do it. So I listened to my heart instead of my head. And I just started doing, where does the money come from? What's going to happen. I had all these investments I had to make to become an educator and a mentor and a coach. And guess what? It came to me. What do you think would have happened if I would've just listened to my head and jumped into the next best company with everyone else or no way I'm not good enough to be that no one would hire me. I have no experience in that. I would have felt what sad, resentful, angry. I would have found myself in the same position, 12 months from now, because guess what? God, doesn't just call you once he gone call you again, you are on speed dial for the big man upstairs. So he would've called me again. Stephanie, that's not right for you ring, ring, ring. So be scared and unsure, and then go number nine, get in line with your zones of genius so that if you're struggling with, what should I do next, get in line with your zones of genius. What are you great at? I believe that we are born with things we're good at. And then we're born with things we are great at. That's probably in line with what, where you're going. And I'm not saying you have to figure out your calling right now. Here's what I'm saying. The podcast, wasn't the end goal. But I knew I was really gifted at public speaking. I'm really passionate and excited. And a stage is my best friend, except not because I can't wear my PJ's. So like sitting behind this microphone in my PJ's messy hair, don't care, braless and flawless drinking. My tea is my jam and I can, I can like get so lit up and excited. So if I know that that's something that is one of my zones of genius. How can I put that into play in the world of podcast? So I want you and I didn't, I don't know. I don't even know if the podcast is the ultimate call you guys, but it's right now, right now in this journey, in this big picture that is being painted of my life. I believe by the highest power this at this moment, this is what he wants me to do. So I'm going to show up with all of me for his dream on my life. And that is this. And so get in line with your zones of genius. If you are an incredible writer, just start blogging, just start the book. I believe that he'll work through you. He'll show you what to write. He'll show you what to blog about. If you're the most incredible photographer and you are so passionate and you're gifted and you love it. Start taking pictures. Guess what's going to happen. Your pictures are going to get discovered and someone's going to be like, Hey, can I hire you for this or that? And you're going to be like, Oh my gosh, that's God, this is so cool. Stephanie said, this would happen. I'm telling you the most magical things will start coming your way. If you just start doing the thing, you're a gifted app. Are you so gifted at gosh, being a mother, just start mothering with like the most mothering power ever, because I bet I bet you were put on this earth to create world changers. And that's a massive call. So just get in line with your zones of genius. Number 10, last one. I want you to view anything new and out of your comfort zone as part of your journey. Okay. So what does this mean? It means that without the seasons, the destination wouldn't be as sweet. If I had gone from top network marketer, $17,000 months, free cars, free trips, all the fancy things. And then the next day I snapped my fingers and I was a multi six figure coach. And I had all the clients and I had all the success and I never had a dark mode moment of transition of figuring out my ish of looking inside myself, of looking in the mirror and having a literal come to Jesus moment. In a lot of ways, I would have never appreciated where I I am right now. It wouldn't have felt like it wouldn't have felt so gratifying to see the podcast grow into what it's already become. And I can't imagine what it's going to be a year from now. And if the podcast falls apart tomorrow and everybody's like, Whoa, that episode was a little too much. Like I'll see you later stuff. And I went to zero listeners and for whatever reason, it just didn't work out. I would know and have faith. That's just part of this journey for me. I had to do the thing long enough to find the learning lessons within it, to grow, to understand the things I love to start to cultivate my passions and the things I'm gifted at, but maybe that's not the ultimate destination, but the beauty is if I do something and you just show up with all of you, even if it's new and different and out of your comfort zone, it's going to lead it's piece of the puzzle. It's going to lead to the ultimate success story of your greatest life, right? So you have to have the seasons. We have to have the things. Does that feel like a failure? Because without them, there's no lesson. We have to have the downs with the ups. We have to, it's just part of being a human being. But you can look at those instead of being angry, upset, frustrated, panic, like I did be full of fear. Start getting distracted, listening to the enemy, letting your head take over, overthinking everything you can breathe in. And you can say, thanks God for that lesson. Thank you for showing me this season because I know that something great is coming from it. And I am sitting here with such anticipation because I can't wait to hear the answers that you provide for me about what's next, like this whole life, this whole journey. I mean, for us is this greater destiny of incredible surprises. If we've just chill out and listen and quiet our minds long enough and trust in him in a big way and believe that every moment, the good, the bad, the hard, the scary, the fearful, it's all part of our story. And we're worthy of becoming best-selling. Each one of us has a story and it's whether we let the dark sides of our story freak us out, or we believe that those are simply a lesson. And the biggest breakthrough on the light is right here on the other side, waiting for us. Those are my lessons. I hope that those lessons inspired you wherever you are in your journey, to believe in yourself, to leap out in faith, to ask God for guidance, to open your heart, to silence your mind, and to believe in yourself long enough for him to do great work within you. I pray so much favor, Abundance and blessings over your life, over your business, over your family. Right now, I pray that you find peace in your heart and you know that you are taken care of you are wrapped in love, abundance and prosperity right now. And I hope that you liked this episode.
