Hey girlfriend, welcome to episode 37, which is breaking down the sales funnel. And I know when I first got into the online space, looking at creating my favorite first course, my very first e-book and marketing it all online and shifting from this kind of in-person high foot traffic, high networking method of sales to fully online. And I went to the Google search bar and put in what is a sales funnel? I think my brain actually exploded out of my skull. That is the visual I want you to have because I was so confused. The information out there is totally overwhelming. And I think that people think it's fun to like, over-complicate it and make it sound so scary so that they can sell you stuff. And here's the deal. Sales funnels is really not that bad. And I'm going to pare it down for you in today's show so that you can walk away from this understanding how a simple, yes, I said simple and easy to implement sales funnel can help you market, whatever it is that you do, whether you're a network marketer, blogger, photographer, Etsy store, owner, retailer, whatever it is, coach, I don't, I don't care what you do.
If you have a simple sales funnel set up, you can capture new followers, new leads so that you can add value into their lives and then create more trust, which ultimately leads to what customers and clients. They're not something to be scared of. I get it. It's overwhelming. It's seems like so many steps. It gets confusing because there's so many options out there of how to build it. You know, we've got all of the different platforms that you need. You need all of these different things to link together. And then what do you even say and what do you write and how should it look and what if your bad at technology and what if you're bad at graphics? Or what if you don't have a course tomorrow, like save the mom's girlfriend.
Like I got you today. I'm going to take you through this. So first and foremost, sales funnels are something that you are going to need as an online marketer. If you wish to start automating your processes and stop showing up for every single lead. Okay. And then cultivating this relationship and then jumping back over here to Mary and like, yo Mary, how was your brother? And she was like that wasn't me. I have a sister. And you're like, crap. All my leads are getting scrambled in my brain. Cause I have too much going on. What if you were able to automate this process? What if you were able to say, Oh my gosh, someone's interested in something of mine. They watched my video, they watch my live. They listened to my podcast. They grabbed one of my handouts or they were interested in a freebie of mine.
I now know that she's interested in me and I want to continue to cultivate this relationship, get to know her, start to generate trust and love and pour value into her in a bigger way. What if there was a way to automate that process? You were able to get her information automatically, send her ways to nurture that relationship and to foster the belief that she has in you, whether it be a simple email funnel. And all that means is sending email a drip email series. Maybe you send some videos to her. You provide her with a freebie. Maybe it adds her to an email list that you can continue to grow. And over time as she's getting cultivated on the back end, because it's all automated. You have more time to work on what actually closing the sales people that have already been cultivated through your sales funnel or already been vetted as actually interested in buying something that you have to offer, whether that be a product service course, coaching, et cetera.
It also frees up your time and energy and space for more things that fuel you. Like, I don't think that we should all just be spending all of our time working. I think we should be spending our time loving life and being fulfilled and loving the things that we do every single day. So you need time to do that. You cannot live behind your computer or behind your phone liking and commenting back to every single lead that's out there in the universe. Right? It also frees you up to create growth strategies for your business. Like what's next big picture, the creative entrepreneurial stuff that drives all of us. And so how does that sound? And you're like, yeah, that sounds awesome. Like I would love to automate my process. Then this episode is for you. I want you to hang on with me until the very end.
So here's number one. I'm going to go through 11 steps right now with you. Number one, step number one of understanding and creating sales funnels. It starts with valuable content. It starts there. You first need to build trust. I don't care what you do. Sell market industry, company, brand service, like who ever you are, whatever you market. It's not about selling something. I do not care. It's about actual people. It's about connecting on a human level, one human being to another human being with love and inspiration and pouring into them with something of value. So that's where you have to start. And this simply means, so let's take me for example, because I already know my sales funnel inside and out, and it'll be easy for me to walk you guys through that when somebody comes and they like one of my podcast episodes, or they listen at the end of that episode in the show notes, it says the number one thing that I get asked is how to grow a following and drive engagement.
Here are 30 ways that you can do that in just 30 days. And I asked my audience for that, what's the value that you guys need? What are you struggling with? And they're like, I don't know how to grow a following. I don't have a following. Nobody engages with me. So I'm like, boom, I'm going to create something for you. I created this massive guide. Okay. And that's the value. So that's, what's going to start your funnel, ask your audience, ask people in your niche, go and do some research and think about what is it that I do. And then what is it that my target market is demanding? What do they need more of? What are they struggling with at a really high level that you can solve? It can be a checklist, a handout guys. And this is sometimes called a freebie. It can be a handout, a little guide.
It can be a blog post. It can be a video that you upload as an unlisted, YouTube like it's limitless, but you need to start with something that solves a problem. It's not about hi, buy my product. Okay. Number two, give them something a little extra in exchange for the email. Now this is where you're going to mention, you know, the resources page or I'm going to mention, Hey, if you grab my 30 growth hacks, I'm also going to send you my free Facebook post-class webinar, right? So I'm like kind of giving them something extra in exchange for their email. And this is done through a landing page and you can create landing pages through many venues. You guys can get started for free with MailChimp. You can do lead pages, which I highly recommend all of these resources. You can find at my website by clicking on resources.
All right. So you're going to create this simple page. And basically you're going to say, Hey, in exchange for this value, I'm going to give you this as well, like a bonus, so to speak that will help you with your opt-in rate. People that actually give you their email address and then have them give you their email address. So that's going to be number two. Now, after they've given you the email address, number three is use a thank you page upsell. What does this mean? This means when Bob Jones comes, because apparently like I am attracting all the dad foreigners, I've had three people message me, you guys with like their dads and they're loving my show and I'm like, , I'm going to have to expand my niche. My avatar is no longer. Just the mama. That's super cool. Anyway, sidebar. So what you're going to do is Bob comes over and he says, yes, I want this freebie.
He gives me his email address and he submits it. The second he submits it. A thank you page pops up for Bob and it says, yo, Bob, go check your inbox. You're amazing. Value is being sent right now. Okay. It's not value, but you know what I mean? I'm sending your amazing health hacks or I'm going to send you how to lose 10 pounds using micronutrient tracking, like whatever you do, right? And Bob's like, yes, I'm so excited. But then it says, but wait, before you go, Bob, as an introductory limited time offer, you can grab my ebook for only $9. And my ebook is the attraction marketing handbook. And so I know, gosh, Bob is probably a network marketer or he's a blogger he's in the online space. He's a coach. He does something where he needs to understand attraction marketing and right there at the thank you page level, I have an up sell for him.
You guys, when you have a simple entry priced upsell product right there before your funnel even begins, you are going to recoup all the money that you need to run. Facebook advertising. Imagine running Facebook advertising for free. Yes, it's so cool. So that's number three. Now number four is to then craft a simple email nurture series. And this is not to sell. That is not the goal here with the initial series it's to create rapport maybe 30 to 90 days worth. Okay. So maybe you do an email a week for three months and you set it up, automate it, using your email software. And again, you guys can start for free with MailChimp. Currently I'm using GetResponse. If you guys listened to this two years down the road, I don't know what I'll be using, but it'll be on my resources page of my website.
Okay. And you guys can go get 30 days of a free trial by clicking on the link in my resources, if you want to try it. Okay. And so you set up this simple series and then you mentioned vulnerabilities. You're going to share your story in those nurture series. I'm going to say like, Hey Bob, you know, there was a time when I had to borrow a thousand dollars from my son's savings account just to cover our cashflow concerns. And it was like the scariest and most embarrassing day of my life. Like I was so distraught to have to do that and having that, the money monkey on my back and realizing that, you know, I don't just have enough income to pay my bills this month. It was just that moment that you never want to face. And these are the type of emails I'm sending in this nurture series.
So Bob is like, he's resonating with me, right? He's like, dang death. Like I've been there and I'm telling Bob, Hey, have you ever tried to market? And you're sending out email after email, after email on social media. And you're doing every single thing that you're applying and your boss tells you to do, but it's not working. You're not able to close the sale or your retention people sign up and then they fall right off. Like, are you struggling to grow? I've been there. So was, I, I remember the day when blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Okay. So you guys are painting these pictures for Bob or for your Bob within the nurture series. And in that very first nurture series is where you're going to actually deliver that freebie. So when Bob Hobson, he puts his email address in, he gets the thank you page opportunity to buy the book.
He may or may not. I would say 50% of the people buy the book. Then at that point, all right, at that moment, Bob gets an email immediately because I've set up his very first email delivery within my automation software, in my email marketing system. So that immediately, when someone ops into the list that I have linked it to, they get an email and it's like, Hey Bob, here's your 30 growth hacks. Open it, check it out. Here's your guide. Right? And he opens it and I'm like, Hey Bob, here's your guide. And he can click on the link, download his guide. And now after he's checked out the guide, he likes me, right? Like that guide is awesome. Y'all it is living awesome. Took me like legit amounts of time and copious amounts of ice coffee to create it. Like that thing is value pack.
And so after he consumes it, he likes me more. He trusts me. So when he gets email number two next week, and it's talking about how I borrowed money from my kid's savings account, all of a sudden, I'm not just an information resource to Bob, but I'm relatable. I'm a friend. I get him. He can understand where I'm coming from. And he can also see that dang, like she found a way to kind of climb out of that hole or that deep season that she was in. She's no longer in that season. And now I want to follow in her footsteps and climb out of my dark season. So that's kind of an example of how that might go. Now. Number five is you can include some links or some attraction marketing within your nurture series that take them further down the CRM funnel, which is the customer relationship management funnel.
So what does this mean? Let's say an email number three. I send over to Bob and I'm talking about how I've struggled to close sales. And in the past how the marketing methods that I was using was frustrating. Overwhelming. I was exhausted from it. It just wasn't working. People weren't signing up. They were running from me inside of that nurture email. I'm going to provide some links for him. I'm going to say, Hey, Bob, if you know, you're ready, don't forget that attraction marketing handbook is still available for you at that introductory price. And I'll hyperlink it over to the sales page for the book. So Bob has the opportunity to buy some stuff while he's getting nurtured. And I would recommend guys starting up that nurture series with a very low end product, like at nine, $12, $27, maybe a $47 product. That way Bob isn't having price aversion, but he's open to spending that amount.
It's not going to break the bank, but what it does is now he's not only read my 30 growth hacks guide, which is awesome, but he's now got my book. And he's like, Oh, dang, this $9 book has 46 pages. I linked every chapter to a YouTube video that I had already created on those topics. It's got homework for every chapter. Like that book is baller and he's like, this was nine bucks. What are her courses? Like, what does her coaching like? Ooh, right? So it's almost like a taste test of the value you're going to provide or like how professional your stuff is. And it gets people to have it an example of why they might want to work with you at a higher capacity as you continue down the funnel. Does that make sense? Yes. Nod your head because I can feel your nods coming through right now.
Nod. Are you getting this? And don't worry if you're like, but how, but how, how do I build it? I got an answer for you there too. So stick with me. I want you to first understand the psychology behind the funnel. So after you've created this email nurture series, which you're going to automate by setting it up to automatically send to Bob on a whatever by, you know, every three days or every five days or once a week or whatever you're going to do, then what you're going to do is link within there opportunities to market stuff that you have. And maybe it's not even marketing something that's paid, maybe within one of the nurture emails that you would talk about. Okay. You know, in this one, I'm going to talk about how I wasn't feeling motivated or passionate about my business anymore. And I was wondering what else to do.
You know, when I went and I was trying all these different things and jumping around and you guys true story, like I tried to have an Amazon merch t-shirt store for a minute. It's like, I'm just not making any money. This isn't working. I'm going to go build, t-shirts like talk about getting distracted from your call. And if you have a video on that, let's see, I had created a podcast on that topic. I would say, by the way, Bob, if you resonate with the story and you're like learning and taking away all the tips I've included in this email, go listen to that podcast episode. Because I mean, I really dig into it there. And I link hyperlink the podcast episode. So it doesn't have to be something paid. Especially if you guys don't have paid products yet link to more value, giveaway content. You're trying to humanize yourself and not just be this untouchable. You want to be a friend. You want to be a friend that's sitting over coffee, or you guys are having taco Tuesday over a beer, like tacos.
Do you get me? Like you want them to understand and get you? And then the number one goal, like the highest capacity of you as an online marketer is to build trust and authenticity and to be vulnerable. Okay. So then number six is to set up a sales landing page. That way, if they're interested, they get to read more about the product or service. So for example, in email three, if you remember, we've hyperlinked my attraction marketing handbook. So Bob might click on it. Well, what is this thing I'm interested. It's going to take Bob to a sales page. And all this means is it's a platform where you can talk more in depth about what it is this product provides. Like Bob's like what's in it for me. Like $9 can get me some tacos for taco Tuesday and maybe even a happy hour beer.
So this book better be dang legit. So when he goes over to that sales page, he's reading, Oh my gosh, it teaches me what to post, how to post. It teaches me. Buyer's psychology for products for online marketing. It's going to teach me, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. I don't even know. So Bob's going to go there and be like, I have to get it like that's so killer. So the sales page is basically mapping out more details. Testimonies. If you can include that on your sales page, it's really going to help you go far. And it's going to boost the genuine interest in purchasing your stuff. Number seven is to use video in your email funnel or, and or, and this is what I recommend on your landing page webinars, et cetera, like anywhere your customer might land. If you use a video there instead of just text, and I would say use both, you're already going to drive your opt-in rate, your purchase rate, your click-through rate by like legit percentages.
I don't even know. I would say 50%, but that's, I'm making that up, but it sounds really good. So we're going to go with that. Using video and text is going to boost all of your results and I don't care if you hate video, you guys just try it, just do it. Okay. So use those videos and basically you can paraphrase what you said in the text. So if they're in the, at the landing page for my book, I might have a little video. That's like, Hey, thanks for checking out. My handbook. You guys, this has 46 value pack pages. There are 11 strategies for attraction marketing within your business. You're going to absolutely love it. And for a limited time, you can grab this e-book for $9 regularly. It's 37. So don't miss out on this opportunity to grab your book. That's it? That would be my video.
Okay. But that tiny relate-ability factor, seeing my face, hearing my energy reminds them, Oh yeah, I love this girl. Like I've checked all her stuff. I follow her on social media. And I'm sure that her products are going to be more of what I love about her. So I'm going to buy this thing. Okay. Number eight, follow up on the people that are interested. We still need to follow up. Especially as you continue to grow and foster these relationships ladies, as they buy something from you within your email system, you can add a tag that says buyer. So once they go through this funnel, this automated funnel of your emails, and they're opening your emails and they're clicking on links, your software will tell who clicked on what? And when they click on it, you can then email them back directly. And I could say, Hey, Hey Bob, I noticed that you checked out the handbook.
Did you have any questions about it? And like, send him a direct email or say, Hey Bob, like it's, I'm so excited that you've been checking out all of my stuff. I noticed that you're interested in this or that you want to hop on the phone and chat about options. And you guys, this might be reserved for, as you continue down the funnel and you have some higher options, like maybe after your first ebook or your first mini course, you have a, a beefy course or you have private coaching or after they buy your first product from you or ask for a test, or maybe you start with offering a test or of your products. And then as they get further down, you know, they're actually really interested. They keep clicking on all your stuff. They're opening. The big sales pages offer to do a free consultation call because getting them on the phone is going to have your, that, or getting them on a sales webinar.
Preferably a live sales webinar is going to get you your highest sales rate, your highest closing rate. Next number nine, people that purchase your entry level products are 65% more likely to buy from you again. Yes, most people that have gone through my entire pricing funnel for let's say my $9. They've gone from my podcasts, all my free stuff, obviously to my $9 ebook to my $67 course, then they've gone to my $197 course. Then maybe they've done the three 47 group coaching. Then maybe they've done the nine 97 course. Then the final thing is once I know they're coming through this funnel, I'm going to be like, yo, let's do some private coaching. Yeah. And I mean, those packages can be two, three, $5,000, but it started with something for free. It started with a $9 product. Is that not absolutely crazy or what?
So you've got to follow up and cultivate, spend time, get to know your actual customers. And especially in the beginning when you guys have time and you're thinking, wow, I sold two books. Yay. That is really cool because you can now go and say, Hey Bob, thank you for buying this book. I really hope that it helps you grow your business. And I'd love to hear your feedback when you're done or tell me, you know, if you had any questions about it, I'd love to know which ones you implement, which strategies work the best for you. And as you get to know, Bob, he's already spent money on you. And whether it's $9 or 900 or $9,000, Bob is worth your attention. Time, love energy, and you know, your space in your life and in your heart. So reach out, get to know him because he is what 65% chance he's going to buy from you.
Again, it is worth your time to follow up and you guys can use a CRM system. I have a CRM system within my email software, which again is right now get response. And it's at Stephanie gas.com, click on resources to try it for 30 days, but I can manage my customers within that system. And I can see, okay, Bob's already purchased a book. I just had a consultation call with Bob. He's interested in private coaching. I've got, you know, let's say $1,997 on the line. And I can put that in the CRM tracking so that I can know as I continue to cultivate this relationship, this is how much income is on the line. Like, you know, who are your highest payoff clients that you need to focus on, providing more value for checking up on them, stay front of mind, go like some of their Facebook stuff, go check out how cute their cat is and tell them your cat is cute because the cat is genuinely cute.
Number one, but number two, when you stay front of mind and they're thinking about you, they know what you do, they just bought your book. They just read your freebie. They're reading your email nurture series. And they're like, I like this person, but now I'm getting to know them on like this really deep level. They're like checking out my social media. They're checking in on me. They're saying what's up. Like now I can actually see working with this person at a higher capacity. Okay. Number 10, use automation when people purchase. So here's, we're back to the funnel here. Now. Bob buys that ebook in email three. Okay. You'll find this and you're going to love it. And it's automated. So I don't have to go, Oh, Bob bought a book. Pardon me? Zumba class. I've got to go send Bob his book right now. Like heck no, yo. So automate that system and you guys can also automate that when people buy your courses by using something like teachable, which is what I use.
Okay. Number 11 is to test, test, test, test, test, test your funnels, and then test your funnels again and then test them again and tweak them and then test them. So people are like, well, I set this up and nothing's working. Okay. Well, yeah, like you got to test stuff. We don't, we don't know what colors Bob's like best. How do we know what verbiage Bob is going to resonate with? How do we know which email system, which emails he's going to open? What are the subject lines that are going to get him to click you guys? It's a huge process. Like it could take a year to really get a sales funnel, to be operating at its highest capacity, with the biggest percentage, open rates and click through rates and to be driving sales because there's so many pieces it's simple and you need to set it up period.
However, to optimize it is a very long road. So you have to understand that whether, you know, you have choices here, you can do this all yourself, which is great. Would my course is you setting up your own funnel through funnel fusion, or you can go hire someone guys. There's lots of people that do this, that will do it for you. And that's cool too. You do you, you know, and think about, are you a tech person? Is this something you would enjoy setting up? And if not outsource that ish, I mean, totally, but it's going to take testing as with anything in your business. Okay. So there you go. Like that is me dissecting a sales funnel for you so that you can fully understand the psychology behind the sales funnel, how it works, how you gain people's trust, how you automate your whole process, how you embed the sales within the vulnerable stories that you share, the relate-ability that you create with your reader, with your follower, and then kind of setting it all up on the backend so that it runs while you sleep.
Because that really, for me is everything. Like I would rather have time than money. I'm like, if I can have another hour open, like, yes, that's happening for me because my time is money. I don't want to spend 60, 8,100 hours a week just working, just replying to people, checking emails, creating blog posts, creating content. Like, no, I want that to be three, four, five hours of my day. And it is. So if I can do this and automate this process, you guys, so can you, and it all begins with the understanding of what the heck online marketing is, getting your head wrapped around all of the terminology and then kind of figuring out how you can implement these strategies and start small, but get it going okay. Because this is where the world is going. So if you were like, yeah, I want to do all of those 11 steps.
