I'm about to make you squirm.. ready?
Wake-up, grab phone ASAP. Check for texts or missed calls.. none. Check for notifications.. 25. Mindlessly (and possessed by the swipe devil), start clicking IG, FB, Email.... screenshot the important stuff so you don't forget. Get out of bed, pee (while still staring at phone). Go make coffee, ohhhh, gotta add that to IG stories. Picture. Get kids dressed, they look sooooo cute, I need to add that too, right? Driving, ding ding ding... crap... I'm not supposed to touch my phone, but.... my.... hand.... is.... out... of... my... control. Drives while glancing down at random text (that totally could have waited 15 minutes).
And so on. And on. And on.
Does this sound familiar? I hope so because otherwise I totally suck.
I think deep down I knew I had a problem. Actually I know I did. That's why I preach technology detoxing so hard. But, when I wasn't detoxing, I was on phone over-load to make up for it.
Sure, I made lots of excuses. I run multiple businesses, from my phone! I have clients! I have leads and contacts that DM and inbox me every minute! What if I miss an opportunity or an important question?
But the reality? I had an addiction. I was reactive. I was out of control.
Step 1? Admit you have a problem.
Step 2? Inventory how bad it is and face it, head on.
Step 3? Focus on healing and getting better. Progress, not perfection.

Barf. I know.
Over the course of 2 weeks I averaged 3-3.5 hours a day on my phone... ok, room for improvement, for sure. Worse? I was picking up my phone like a trillion times a day! Okay, actually 50-70x a day but, hello? WHY?
Bad for so many reasons but the number 1 reason?
I AM THE EXAMPLE FOR MY KIDS. EVERYTHING THEY KNOW AND INTERNALIZE COMES DIRECTLY FROM MY ACTIONS. Drawing the line. If you ask me (and even if you don't) there is no room for future generations to get worse or more dependent on technology and the internet than we already are.
Being PRESENT in today's world is a STRUGGLE. I decided that I wasn't going to 'make it okay' and sweep reality under the rug anymore. It was time to reclaim my intentionality and heal this addiction.
The average human is spending roughly 3 HOURS a day on their phones. I know I was guilty! How about this stat... the average person is logging in / checking social media apps over 60x a day!
