It's Monday! My fav day of the week. I woke up 20 minutes early so I could start my day with intention. Read my devotional and drink my coffee in peace (let's get real, haha)!
I'm sitting at the gym typing you this email because, A) I get two hours of childcare soooooo, and B) I'm really excited about today's highly requested show!
Fact: Pinterest is the #1 traffic driver to my website (to the tune of 94% of the traffic)!
I call Pinterest the residual marketing platform because out of all the social media platforms, it's the one I spend the least amount of active time on. And my pins continue to go and grow year after year, generating targeted followers and leads for my blog, podcast, and products (for less than $12 a month, btw).
In today's show, I will be covering:
I hope you enjoy.
Love and light,

Hey girl, here we go. Today's episode is all about Pinterest and I am bringing this episode to you and recording it for you from high demand. I posted in my Instagram stories the other day, about how I use Pinterest to drive my product sales, my website, all of it, my business. And so many people wrote me back and said, Oh my gosh, that Pinterest tip, like, yes. So I thought, wow, next podcast episode coming right up. My gorgeous friends. Every time you guys send me feedback, I do take time and I listen to it and I internalize it. And I think about how can I create more of this content? That's really helping them. And let me just share some information with you about Pinterest and let me blow your mind real quick. I mean, these are like personal stats. So 94% of the website traffic, my personal website, traffic at stefaniegass.com in the last two years, 94% of it has come from Pinterest 94%.
And in those two years, I have probably spent less than $500 total advertising on Pinterest. If that in two years I spent over $500 a month advertising on Facebook ads. Pinterest is so inexpensive and it is so flipping valuable. Here's another crazy story for you guys. My husband launched a business, making these insanely cool curved flags, handcrafted flags out of wood, and he made these flags and he would create them. And I mean, they take him, you know, five hours. They're beautiful. They're art. It's truly it's artwork. Anyway. He's like, so how do we sell these? Like, I'd like to make, you know, one a month or something. We'll sell it for like $400 a flag. No one will buy it for that. And I'm like, I don't know. I'll throw it up on Pinterest. That's worked for me in the past. I upload his flags into Pinterest and I posted on a couple of group boards throughout my own boards as well.
And they go viral. And you guys, like, we had to turn off the Etsy store because we were getting so many orders and yes, like 400 bucks, a pop is awesome. But the time it took him to make them, he's like, I can't make any more flags. Like you have to stop this. What is happening. But anytime we need some extra cash, I'm like, yo, I'm going to turn on your Etsy store. And we immediately get a sale. And 100% of the traffic to his store is through Pinterest. Yup. So if you are not using Pinterest for your business and I don't care if you're a blogger like bloggers know about Pinterest for the most part, but you guys are in network marketing. Most of you are not using Pinterest. Those of you that have coaching businesses, you're not using Pinterest. You guys could be a tax advisor, a financial advisor.
You could be a health and wellness coach. You should still be using Pinterest to market to grow your brand, to grow your following, to spread your value, knowledge and freebies throughout the entire world and capture that demographic. That's going to help you drive your business forward and create like tons of amazing traffic. Before we get into the show. I just wanted to remind you guys, I have a free gift for you for being a mompreneur mastermind show listener. You can head over to 30 growth hacks dot G R eight, the number eight.com and claim your free guide. This guide has 30 different ways to grow your following. Pinterest is one of them and drive your engagement. You're going to love this freebie. And I also send with the freebie three more amazing webinars trainings that I think you're going to absolutely love. So don't forget to head over to 30 growth hacks dot G R eight, the number eight.com and get all of your free gifts right now.
All right. So let's get into Pinterest. Do you have Pinterest? Do you already have an account? Let me ask you that. How often do you go on Pinterest? When you're thinking about what to make for dinner, that new workout that you've heard about, or, gosh, I'm ready to DIY my closet, like condo style, like yo, that is like an epidemic right now. Okay. Let me just say I am so terrified to go watch Marie Kondo show on Netflix because it's called tidying up for those of you living under a rock or not on social media. Cause it's blasting my social media feed and she basically cleans like her entire life and everyone else's entire life and talks about how it brings you joy. And I can't watch it because I know myself and I will only clean for like 37 years. I will never do anything.
You'll never hear another podcast cause I'll be cleaning. And I don't know why I'm talking about that, but that is what is happening in the world. Okay. That is my current event of the moment. So when you get like this urge to do something, you go to Pinterest, right? And I want to share some demographics with you about Pinterest. Kay. These stats are from OmniCorp agency.com. The total number of monthly active Pinterest users, 250 million people are actively searching for stuff on this platform. Number of Pinterest users from the U S 125 million. So half of those people are from everywhere around the world. Like what better way to grow your brand and your reach than to use a platform that has 50% coming from all different places around the globe. Total number of Pinterest pins, 175 billion total number of Pinterest boards, 3 billion total number of Pinterest users who save shopping pins on boards daily, 2 million, 2 million people are shopping on Pinterest right now today.
Okay. This is super crazy. So here's some demographics for you. 81% of Pinterest users are females. So think about that. Do you market to mainly females? Probably so, because most of you are in the mompreneur space. 40% of new signups are men. 60% of new signups are women. Millennials use Pinterest as much as they use Instagram. And guess what? Pinterest is way easier than Instagram like is just so flipping easy. I feel like Pinterest is like the passive income site and the Instagram and Facebook are exchanging my time for money and driving me insane because I have to spend so much time on those sites and Pinterest, I spend the least amount of time. I get on Pinterest to pin my podcast twice a week for five minutes, 10 minutes a week. I'm on Pinterest and it's generating 94% of my traffic to my website, to my blog, to the course page on my website.
Like, is your mind blown yet? Okay. The median age of a Pinterest user is 40. However, the majority of active pinners are below 40. So again, ask yourself is my market mostly female around the age of 45? And under the answer is probably yes, 30% of all us social media users are Pinterest users as well. And let's see, here's some other fun facts about Pinterest. 40% of pinners have a household income of over $100,000. Again, who is your client? Who are the people that are going to buy your products, your services hire you for coaching, buy your t-shirts, buy your soaps. I mean, do your workouts by your fitness guide, they probably make over 100 K or their household does. Yes, you are targeting these people anyway. And you're missing this platform that has all of these people collected for you already. It's so freaking awesome.
Okay. 87% of pinners have purchased a product because of Pinterest. One out of two millennials use Pinterest every month. Do you guys want me to keep going? Like, I mean, come on, like these stats are insane. 50% of people have made a purchase after seeing a promoted pin. Okay. Promoted pins are repin an average of 11 times per advertisement. Promoted pins is another word for like how we advertise on Facebook with a Facebook ad. It's a Pinterest ad. And just PS, I spend less than 12 cents a click on Pinterest ads. Okay. I mean, it is so insanely cheap to advertise on Pinterest and nobody's doing it. And I have no idea why. There you go. I've now blown your mind with Pinterest stats. And I've also put my money where my mouth is on that one because I've gone into my Google analytics and seen for myself where my traffic is coming from.
And let me show you guys, I mean, it is absolutely crazy. If you can hear the clicking, I'm going to my Pinterest account right now to tell you how many people are looking at my Pinterest, because this is just so weird to me. Okay. So I have this Pinterest account. And if you want to go to my Pinterest, go to Pinterest. And my username is Steph den, GG weird. I know S T E F like my name D E N like Nancy G. That's my username. I have 337,000 monthly viewers looking at my Pinterest page. Like my jaws on the floor. Like what, why I have 27,000, 27,000 people engaged on my Pinterest page. That means saving my pins, clicking the links in my pins. Like why, who, what, where when and how y'all. This is so cool. Right? And I don't do really anything fancy in here.
Once in a while I create a Pinterest ad. I drive an ad to my 30 growth hacks. My freebie sometimes I'll do an ad. And honestly they convert at less than 10 cents, 12 to 10 cents. They're super inexpensive. But for the main, you know, mainly what I do is I head over there. I share a pin, I have group boards. I'm going to explain in a minute, I share them across group boards. And then I use a re-pinning software and it repins for me every day. Boom. Like I legit spend less than it's like $9 a month is what I'm spending on this whole entire process. $9 a month, like, huh? Yeah. Okay. I know, I'm sorry. I keep doing that. But I'm like so excited about Pinterest. Can you guys tell, so let's start from the beginning. Pinterest is a platform where you head in there and you see these visual ideas, memes, infographics, and they teach you something or they have a topic on it, right?
Like how to make money from home, how to work from home or 12 recipes. You can meal prep before you have your baby. That's one that I made that went viral back in the day or how to get your wavy wooden American flag before father's day or whatever. Okay. How to meal prep for your kids, whatever it is that you want to learn. Think about like a blog post title. That's the means and the information you find on Pinterest. So you head over there in the search bar, you can search for whatever you're looking for. So let's say for example, you want to find healthy options for your kids and you search for that in the Pinterest search bar, all kinds of pins are going to show up the pins, that interest you, you can click on them to visit the site. Now, typically it can take you anywhere.
It can take you to a video that they've created. It can take you to a blog post. It can take you to a podcast. It can take you to their website. The Pinterest link can go anywhere. So if you're like, Ooh, this is so good. Like I definitely want to come here again. Or I want to save this. You can save your pin to your own personal board. So that's kind of how that works. Now within your Pinterest account, you can create something called a board, and this is how you collect your pins by category. So for example, let me go back to my Pinterest. This page should have known we were going to need that left it open. Okay. Here it is. I have categories for all of my pins because not only am I uploading my own pins, but I'm also saving other people's pins.
So I have boards and these are personal boards, but they're public. You can create private boards or public boards. I have productivity, healthy eats success with Stephanie decor and DIY kit stuff, organization, beauty and hair fitness, inspiration in quotes, money, mindset on and on and on and online mompreneur resources, social media, marketing, Christmas. So as you're pinning stuff, you can create a board to keep it neat and tidy, make it private or make it public. Now there's a third type of bored that I want to teach you about that not too many people know about and it is called a group board. So let's just go through. Cause I really like to kind of visualize the process. Let's say that you have a new blog post out and it is how to ward off the flu and illnesses using my favorite essential oil. And maybe you have a meme that you created in Canva.
And it says the number one oil to ward off illness in your kids this winter season. And it's got a meme with like your kids blowing her nose and it's got your colors and your brands. That's your graphic. Your graphic is inside of your blog post. Now you guys it's whether you have a video on Facebook that it goes to and you don't have a blog post, our website still create the meme because you're going to head over to Pinterest. Okay? Go to your page, click the red plus sign, upload your meme. And the meme is that graphic. You created. You're going to have the opportunity to put a link where that meme is. You put a link, where do you want this to go? You can have it directly link over to a Facebook video tutorial for me. I have it linked to my podcast.
You could have it linked to that blog post. And then you're going to put in a description for the pin. Now this description for the pin is the S E O engine optimization. This is how people will find you on Google. On Pinterest. This is so important. Do not skip this step in the description. You're going to put something like worried about your kiddos, catching the flu this season, ready to ward off illnesses, colds, tummy bugs, and all of those germs. This winter here is the number one essential oil you need now. Okay. So if someone's searching and they're putting in, you know, eliminate illness or essential oil for colds, all of those keywords are in the description of your pin, which means you have a higher probability that your pin is going to be at the top of it. The search results, which is yes, please free marketing.
And it's driving people to your video or your blog or your whatever. Now, once you've saved it, you then get to choose. Where does this pin go? So now what I do is I use a software called tailwind. You can get it at stefaniegass.com/resources and I in my stuff within tailwind. It's so easy. There's a plugin in your browser where any picture on the internet gives me the option, pinning it straight from tailwind. So I pin it and then tailwind says, what boards do you want to share this to? So, okay, I'm going to share that to my kids board. I'm going to share that to maybe my health and wellness board. I'm going to save it to my remedies board. Okay. So you're going to save it. Now there's another option for you, which is to find group boards that are relevant to your market or to your niche, and then share that pin there.
Now where you guys can go is pin groupie.com the links in the show notes. And you're going to search for group boards that has to do with your avatar. For example, let's say that I did that awesome. Some blog posts in that training on this number one oil and how to apply it, how to use it, how to diffuse it for my kiddos, not to get sick. Well, who is that? Mama? She's a mom. You can put in mompreneur mama, preschool, kids, mom, blogs, mom, resources, essential oils. And you're searching for these terms to find the group boards, which means there are number of collaborators that can pin to this group. And when you have the ability to pin in a group board, you're going to reach thousands and thousands of them, more people than if you're pinning to just your own board that you know, your mom's following.
You know, like I don't have that many followers on Pinterest, maybe 500. So those 500 people are only seeing that if they're like scrolling their Pinterest feed, which I don't think very many people do that. So the goal is to get seen, get your Pinterest scene search for shared and repinned. So here's where, when you join a group board, you're going to click within pin groupie, join the group board. It's going to ask you to email the host typically and asked to be added as a collaborator. And they do have rules like, Oh, you can only pin three times a day and here you have to pin other people's stuff, et cetera, which is totally cool. Right? So you're going to join these group boards once you've done that. When you go to pin that one, post that one Canva graphic, you share it to this group board that you've been added to for let's say preschool, mama blogs, boom.
Every woman in preschool, mama blogs wants to know about the number one essential oil to ward off the flu. Doesn't she? Oh, yes. You've now increased your visibility, like a trillion fold. Right? And so think about what group boards can I join? And then here's the last component of that tailwind, which is my re-pinning software. After I've uploaded my pin, I tell tailwind to schedule a loop and to continue pinning for me that same pin K every so often. So maybe it repins for me once a week across all of those boards. So cool. I don't ever have to get in and be like, which pin did I pin last week? And I, cause you know, you want to keep it fresh. You want to stay at the top of the board, right? If you repin, you're constantly staying at the top. And so tailwind can do that for you automatically.
And there's a few other softwares you can use. I used to use BoardBooster, which was great. And it got shut down. I don't know why. Cause probably cause it was five bucks a month and now he's tailwind and I think it's like $8 a month. It's not bad at all. Go to my resources page and you can grab a discount price for that. Anyway, automating this process. So now the 30 minutes I was in Pinterest before now, I'm only in there 10 minutes a week and this software is repinning it for me over and over and over again. Flipping amazing. Yeah. So I would highly recommend getting a repin software like that. All right. So we've talked about the group boards. We've talked about repin, I've explained to you what a pin is, what a board is using SEO to drive to your resource. Now here's where another free tip for you is to use a catchy title.
One of my best performing pins and podcast episodes was how I made 3050 $2 in 12 hours. Right? It's catchy. It has to do with an end goal. Like, well, I would want to make that much money in 12 hours. How did she do that? Why didn't she tell me how she did that? Dang it. Another one, the number one growth driver for Instagram that you're probably missing. What, what is it? Go listen to the podcast episode of find out those catchy titles are my most listened to episodes. My most clicked upon Pinterest ads. Okay. So think about what can be catchy for your avatar and link those up within your meme. Create. And I use Canva because it's free it's so user-friendly, especially if you're not a massive graphic person, you can save your branding within canvas, like your colors, your fonts, backgrounds that you want to use.
And then all you have to do is go switch out picture. So again, time is money. So do that so that you're not recreating something every time from scratch and spending an hour on a graphic, I spend 20 seconds on my graphics. Now the last thing I want to mention about Pinterest is using paid ads, right? Or promotions on Pinterest. This is like the most underutilized thing ever, I believe when it comes to this platform because it's so cheap. So what you can do is head over to your Pinterest page and click on analytics. You can then click on overview within analytics or audience site to figure out which of my pins are doing the best. What looking at my pin, who is the audience that I'm attracting naturally organically. And then you can say, well, I'm going to go do more of that by paying for some results, for example.
Well, I'm here in my dashboard and Oh wow. Check it out. My number one pin in the lab 30 days is my 30 ways to grow your following and drive engagement. It has a thousand clicks while 937. It has 192 saves. That means 192 people have saved this pin. And what does that mean? I am now on 192 other people's profiles. And how many of those people we'll have followers that are just like my avatar? Do you guys see how that starts to grow and organically bring in new business for you, new followers? And then it has 93,000 impressions. I don't really know what that means, but I usually look at the clicks and the saves to see what pin is really exploding. So then what I would say is, okay, this pen is like killing it. I would then click on that pin and I would promote the pin because it's already doing really well.
And I want to fuel fire with fire. Like I want to continue to grow the momentum that this pin has already generated for me on an organic way. And so you just click promote and you can just choose who the audience is that you're going to promote it to and you'll use keywords or tags. So I might put in mompreneur okay. How to make money from home, how to grow my following online marketing, social media marketing, selling on Instagram, selling on Facebook. So those are kind of the phrases that I might use, where if someone searches for those phrases, I'm paying for my pin to show up first, get that. And then you could do this for like three bucks a day, $5 a day. You could run it for a short amount of time, like a burst and see how you do you can.
I typically run it, let's say three to $5 a day, just for a month or two months, whatever my current campaign is or my latest blog post or whatever pin that I see is naturally doing well. I'm going to promote it with put a little bit of money behind it. And I'm going to see 10 X the result. Then if I just let it organically flow and you don't have to do that. But for me, I'm like, it's a tax write off and want to invest in growing my following. I want to drive more traffic to the value where I can actually help people. So I'm driving the traffic to my freebies, my opt-in my podcast or my website. I'm not driving traffic to buy something for me. I want to first gain their trust. I want to actually help someone before they realize, you know, Oh, she wants to sell me something and I don't necessarily want to, but if they have a deeper need, the opportunity will be there later.
Do you see that? So I wouldn't promote a pin with a sale attached to it. Okay. Initially, because you're going to lose their trust, start with the free content, the humanized side of things like how can you help your avatar? How can you help that future customer? What tips do you have for her? What free trainings do you have for her? What community do you have that she can join? Okay. And so I think that's something that you can do now. The last note is to really dig into your Pinterest analytics and understand which pins are really operating well for you, because that might give you some insight into which free value is capturing your audience the most. What is most captivating? Also, what pin style is doing the best? Is it black and white? Does it have your face on it? Is it just words like you can play with the different pins and kind of test it to see which pin is organically doing well, as far as saves and clicks compare in contrast to the others.
And that way you can use the pins that are going to do the best. Does that make sense? Okay. My friend, well, I hope that that mini lesson on Pinterest was helpful. I really hope that you go and spend the time to figure out the platform. Once you guys set it up, you were going to spend like no time in there. It's just so simple. It's it really is like the residual passive income, social media site that nobody is utilizing. And if they are, they're not utilizing it to their fullest capacity because it's amazing. It really is. And again, if you want to check out the different apps and resources that I use to grow my Pinterest, you can do email@example.com. Click on resources. Lastly, if you loved this episode, head on over to iTunes, click on my show and leave a quick review for the show.
