Today, we have some AMAZING questions submitted by my Podcast Pro University students that are part of the private membership community. We are going to cover so many amazing topics so buckle up, babes! What is the best way to plan your month of podcasts and batching? Do you have a system that works with having two kiddos? Ha! That’s a good one! “Do you have a system that works around your kids?” … not really, other than being a naptime warrior! My rule of thumb here is if you know you are going to have an opening in your day or week where you can actually get to work, make sure that you are filling it with “A” activity. “A” activity examples are: Does this build my business/brand? Bring me revenue? Light me up and bring me a bunch of joy? I know that if I have time today, it's going to my coaching clients, my podcast, or my students. I could be on Instagram making a post right now, but I’m not because that is not A activity that builds my business, brings me revenue, brings me public relations or brings me joy. When it comes to batching, I try my best to stay two weeks ahead of time. What I mean by that, I look at my actual Excel file (you guys get this with PPU!) which has all of my podcasts that are coming up, mapped out! What I can see by looking at myspreadsheet right now are a lot of things that have been recorded like coaching sessions that I have the release on. I then space those out and I know that I can batch out those specific episodes. Then I always leave space every 2 or 3 episodes because you never know when inspiration is going to strike! One of the mistakes that I made early on in my podcast was that I would batch month ahead of time and I have NO space to plug in things that were inspirational. I ended up putting in these “bonus” episodes. That’s fine but you don’t need bonus episodes unless you’re trying to drive downloads and traffic for sponsorship reasons. I have learned that leaving space works best for me. I batch content sometimes whenever or wherever I am if I am feeling inspired, I’ll just record, even if it’s on my phone. After I’ve done that, I’ll save it but I don’t put in, “Welcome to Episode 50” because I don’t know where I want to use that episode. It’s a great idea to have these random, inspired episodes wherever you have an opening. The secret is, don’t batch in order so you can spread things out! Life can get busy and doing batching this way can allow for more grace, but also leaves room for somecreatively inspired content. Now, regarding how I do this with kids, I just try to fit it in… naptime, early morning, days that my husband is off. The real key here though is that you have got to get gangster with your time! What are the ABCs of Affiliates? Step one: Find something you’re obsessed with! A product/service/mentor/coach… just find something that you’re already obsessed with, using all the time, and pairs with your niche. This needs to pair with your audience/avatar. Then you are going to go to that person/product/website and ask (or Google) affiliate program. For example, I use Thrive Cart for my checkout software. I love it! It upsells and does everything I need. I am seriously obsessed with it! I knew that ThriveCart paired with my audience, my Lolas, so I signed up for their affiliate program and I get 50% of every sale. I use that affiliate inside some of the podcasts where I talk about checkout systems or upselling. I also have it on the “resources” portion of my website. That is simply what you do for an affiliate. It’s different if you are wanting to be an affiliate for YOU. For example, this course that you guys are a part of has an affiliate program! So, say you take the course and are obsessed with it (duh!) and you feel like your audience would benefit and crave this course, then you can be affiliated with me and make a percentage off your referral’s sign up costs. … If it’s a person you want to be affiliated with, you have to have your system set up. If you have your courses through Teachable, you can use their affiliate. As I said, I use ThriveCart’s affiliate program. Basically, what that means is that if any of you signs up to be an affiliate, you can go through that system and then be offered a __% to affiliates for selling the course. Each of my affiliates gets a link that is directly created inside of Thrive Cart or Teachable. You sign up and then get others signed up with your affiliate and explain to them how to market your programs or course and whenever they sell one, they get a kickback! That’s the more technical side of affiliates. The other component building a mutually beneficial relationship with people. I have people that I am obsessed with, follow all their stuff, go to their Instagram, I love them and like an “arm’s length away” mentor. When I think about the people I strive to become, I then think about how I could network with them! Everyone is human. While we may put these people on a pedestal, no one is actually on a pedestal. They are real-life humans with their wing-ding hair, mom life, crazy kids, no one is untouchable. If I am striving to be like (whoever is amazing), I start to show up for them in their community! I would drop them love on Instagram, shoot them messages, say thank you for their content, with everything coming from a genuine place in my heart. I want them to know that they are helping my business and they are inspiring me! Sometimes it’s taken a year for these big-time people to realize that I am always in their corner and they start to reply back to me. The more you stay in front of their mind, the more you start to grow a relationship with someone. Think about it, if there was a friend you wanted to make at church or bible study, you wouldn’t just stare at them from afar and creepily say in the distance, “Ohhhh I wanna be friends with Nancy! Nancy is so cool!”. NO! You’d be like, “What up, Nancy. I wanna be your friend. I love your hair. I love the point you brought up today in bible study, do you wanna grab coffee?”. You need to treat influencers or people you want to grow rapport with in the same way. I am not saying that this always works, but you should still thank people for inspiring you! That’s still a huge win! Once you have grown an online relationship with someone, they are replying to you, that’s when I would voice DM them ad be like, “I have this thing and I don’t know if it would work for you but I would LOVE it if my product/program/course would be a fit for your audience and if you would be interested in being an affiliate for me! I’d love to give you free access/check it out!”. Now, you need to make sure you see an actual need for what you are offering. Voice DM is my favorite way to reach out. I’m not all about the fancy emails because I personally don’t read them! Just be authentic and love on people! Play the long game! If you want people to notice you, be noticeable! How do you get podcast swaps when you’re dealing with imposter syndrome and find people near or just above where you are? You guys, imposter syndrome is nothing more than being afraid of the unknown. That’s it! I want you guys to know that this is 100% normal and excepted! If you don’t have discomfort and growing pains, then why are you here!? Like what is the point of growing forward, excelling, pushing yourself, and getting uncomfortable? What’s the end result if everything was just easy? When you are doing your thing and its hard, scary, confusing, uncomfortable, you can at the very least be proud of what you’ve done AND you’ve set a new baseline! Every time you conquer something that has given you some discomfort, you’ve moved up a level! Now, you’re going to conquer that next thing! You have to go through discomfort ladies! Imposter syndrome is simply looking at someone else who’s already done what you want to do and it seems impossible. But guess what? That person was sitting where you are right now! In order for them to get where they are, they had to go through it all. Whoever you are looking at and feeling like they really have got it going on, you have to remember that they have felt the same way too but they were brave enough to push though! They were strong enough to be willing to figure it out and take the leap! That’s some tough love for you to just get up, push through it, fail your way forward, and remember that no one has just stood up and become an instant success. We have all had to go through feelings of discomfort. Just GO! Remember, compound growth starts with discomfort! How do you get past the fear of recording? Well, you just click “record”! haha! But seriously, what’s the worst that can happen? You have to re-record it? Edit it? Fine! You just have to do it! There was a time where I was so terrified of public speaking and I would get all sweaty and have panic attacks. I just hated it, but I had to do it because I was a leader in this huge network marketing organization I was in. I had to keep standing up even though I would black out everything I said or said dumb stuff or lose my breath or stumbled with my words, but I kept doing it! Around the 6-month mark, it all just went away! Now, I’m a podcaster and a coach and I can comfortably get on Lives with you to answer all your fabulous questions! How can you get people to find your brand-new blog? SEO is super important! This means you need to title things that are searchable. What would your audience be searching for in Facebook, Google, Podcast search and use those keywords? Make sure your channel art and blog graphics are on point! Also, I hope you’re using Pinterest yall! Seriously, listen to my Pinterest episode! You don’t need a big fancy course. You just need a Pinterest account and some group boards! That’s it! You will get SO much traffic from Pinterest! Make sure that your channel art is bomb.com and is clear so that it GRABS ATTENTION! You want to make sure your channel art is crisp, clear, obvious what it is, not too busy, or that your 6-year-old made it because you have 2 seconds to get people's attention! Another way to get your blog noticed is by word of mouth! Ask the people that love you to share it for you or post it in your stories! You don’t need to start a brand-new Facebook group, just post in existing ones. What do you post? Free stuff! Free content, free tips, free ideas! You also need to be consistent. If you are putting out GREAT stuff into the world and people are wanting more but you go MIA for a month, they are never coming back again. Think about yourself. How do you consume? I go back to my favorite podcast/blog and if they don’t have something new then I’m like… NEXT! Being consistent with great content, word of mouth, SEO, Pinterest, Instagram stories are all really great ways to get your name out there and be seen! But really, it all comes down to having faith that God is going to send you the people that need to hear your message and praying over your business. There is SUCH a great book called, “The Circle Maker” about the power of prayer and praying over the work you are trying to do and how God could simply breathe on your project and blow. it. up. especially if it aligns with his purpose for you. I am so excited and proud of all of you for getting out there and just being here! I mean, hello you guys are creating podcasts! You are just leaping into it and it’s scary! Just keep going and if there is anything that you are super afraid of, just push through it! I believe in your SO fiercely!
